finally posting about chet's future wife in the my lady ginny universe because she's an icon and i love her so much (+charginny nation deserves some food while you wait for the next installment xx)

okay so her name is rosa and she's a very italian woman from new jersey

she has a big big family and multiple (protective) older brothers

she and chet first met in college (in my mind he went to osu because...football. and she went because she wanted to get away from home)

rosa actually had a boyfriend at the time, she just happened to bump into chet every so often/they eventually became casual friends (and obviously he fell first).

she wasn't all that impressed with him at first, considering she very much was not about the frat life, which he was yet to fully grow out of.

she really started caring about him come junior year, considering he'd cleaned up quite a bit during the summer, and her boyfriend was starting to lose her (there's a backstory on this).

before they even officially got together her brothers essentially claimed him and bought him a drink (mostly bc they hated her ex bf).

after college chet follows her back to jersey, where he gets his own place separate from her for now (bc catholic values ofc) and she gets a job as a secretary at a law firm while she lives at home.

obviously as soon as she meets charlie and ginny she LOVES them and thinks they're the cutest couple she's ever seen in her life. down the line the four of them all end up pretty close. (chet and charlie take awhile but they come around).

yes she's the cool aunt

rosa has a little brown cairn terrier dog she gets after graduating (her name is mina and she takes her everywhere she goes) and yes chet has to carry her alot of the time, often so that rosa can shop or talk with her hands.

she dresses business casual which is honestly a stark contrast from her loud personality.

chet tries his best to learn some italian for her, considering she still speaks it quite often and tends to go on tangents sometimes when she's frustrated.

they eventually have two kids (and yes ones a girl bc chet has to be a girl dad)

anyway yeah that's the gist for now, honestly i'm way too invested at this point. she was only meant to be a minor character but i'm thinking we'll start bringing her up more in post-canon material!!

hello hello charginny nation and friends. the time has finally come, ask and you shall receive... it's time to unveil my vision of.....

✨ginny danburry's wardrobe✨

basically i'm going to break it down chronologically by era, while also going through each type of clothing and the evolution of style over time. (keeping in mind this is entirely based on my convoluted universe of fics and not at all concrete, merely based on context and interpretation) but with that out of the way let's get into it shall we?

first up we have canon era/immediate post canon. cir. 1959~1961

considering she's still at henley hall around this time, i think it's rare her everyday clothing will vary too far away from her uniform. although, like charlie, i think it's entirely possible hers will be extremely altered at times (stripped down/things added/odd socks or jewelry) especially when she isn't actually at school.

to me, ginny always came across as softly feminine. she has some form of rebellion attached to it, sometimes she will wear things a bit away from the norm. but at the same time, there is reason to it, there is a reminder of yes she is in fact the little sister in a preppy catholic household, and while her clothes may show some of her innocence, there's often a stark contrast to them as well, perhaps simply by shedding a bit of that conservatism, and showing that at heart she really does appreciate all things romantic. same goes for summer or sleep/swimwear, it's almost tomboy, but with a hint of a ruffle or soft fabric, even a bit showy for her age sometimes.

and then of course, her dress (featured in this fic). in my mind, it's rare ginny dresses up because she wants to. so this dress to me is the first time she not only wants to, but also gets to choose the nature in which she shows herself off. like anything else, it's subtle, soft, almost like she wants to be unassuming to anyone that isn't entirely willing to see her (charlie). hence the reason i had her initially wear a shawl as well, she chooses who can see more of her, like some form of protection, while still riding the line of pushing that conservatism.

next we have college(~post) era!! cir. 1962~1966

in my mind, there's a lot going on in ginny's life around this time. it's her first time finally away from a conservative small town, the first time she can really make her own decisions without the shadow of her parents/brother/school, and at the same time she's dealing with charlie being gone while maintaining both school and theatre on top of a part time job. so naturally her clothes would represent that. i think there would be a shift here, less blending into the background, more unique pieces that still stick to a more muted and less "bold" color palette which was moderately popular at the time. shorter skirts, more fun tights, less uniform, but still practical. she might even lean a bit into medieval revival in the later years, just because that goes so rightfully with her theatrics and still pushes some boundary.

and finally adult/parent era </3 cir. 1967/68 onward

at this point in her life, i think ginny's variety in clothing starts to branch out alottt. and to me, that's for a variety of reasons, she's gained so much confidence in herself by now, she knows who she is and has what she wants; a career, a husband, a family, a house, etc.

she 100% begins to dress richer at times too (maybe even taking some inspiration from the younger years of her late grandmother, hence the bottom right dress from this fic), considering charlie (if not her) would be making a decent amount of money at this point, and i like to think her acting career is going somewhere too. which she values that alot as well, so i think despite some of her pieces being finer, she doesn't stray away from artsy elegance or even simple practicality. especially when she's a mom there's going to be outfits, especially in the summer, that will just need to be thrown on (but that doesn't mean she can't look cute doing it ofc).

overall there's a recurring theme at this point in time. confidence, patterns, variety in fabrics/cuts, and a shameless representation of her. alot of her previous styles would meld into this one too in my opinion, making it honestly an evolved and embellished sense of what she'd worn before. still a bit of medieval revival, some conservative cuts with a twist, tights, etc.

Everyone is there except for Knox who 100% always finds an excuse not to go.

Cameron works there. Probably with his cousins or something.

The rest of the boys 100% go partially just to give him shit. Charlie lays it on REAL thick (runs, takes forever to get in the tube, tries to go down early, splashes him, etc.).

Pitts and Meeks have a very specific system both regarding ranking of each slide/ride and what order they should go on them. An itinerary if you will.

Meeks needs hella sunscreen. (my boy is pale okay)

Ginny comes with them and ofc looks super cute in her little swimsuit. Naturally Charlie is practically falling all over her.

She's actually really enthusiastic about all the rides, her and Charlie always go on everything together ofc.

Neil and Todd are highkey those pda people in line and I'm not afraid to say it.

Todd is a little scared of the really big slides but he goes because of how hyped up Neil is about it.

I feel like Neil and Todd would tear up the wave pool (especially when they turn that shit up).

Pitts and Meeks operate like an old married couple as they always do, but they're dozing off on each other in line by the end of the day.

Charlie and Ginny are probably the more middle ground, it only becomes a problem when Charlie has to carry the tube up instead of holding Ginny's hand.

The bumperboat employee HATES to see this group coming. Every single one of them is competitive in their own way and its absolute chaos when they're all determined to win.

If this is an older park there most certainly is a Tunnel of Love (or some type of boat tunnel) and you can guess what the outcome of that one is. (Out of everyone Charlie and Ginny are most enthusiastic about it) Pitts and Meeks both get spooked in the dark at first convince me otherwise.

Pitts and Meeks apartment. They live in the financial district of New York (on or near Pearl St) , above a small covenant store. They know the owner and get access to the store after hours bc they always pay rent on time and the owner loves their cat.

Charlie is one of those people who is effortlessly good at his job (after he gets settled in post war) and it pisses people off. He also ends up being the wealthiest of the poets even tho Knox technically makes more per year he just knows how to work with money

Let the record show that I think these two have kissed at least once if not frequently. Listen I am aware that the entire story line of star wars rests on the fact that Padme and Anakin have kids but can't a girl dream of a post divorce and war universe Rex helps Anakin raise the twins? I feel like I'm not asking for to much there. Also with the amount of palpatine meddling going on whose to say Anakin didn't wake up one day being like "somethings off" and have the uncanny feeling his entire life is wrong. IM JUST SAYING AND I COULD GO ON FOR HOURS

You know what? I love this movie. I think about it honestly an unhealthy amount. I know the filmmakers behind it will likely never see this but I want them to know that my life is better bc this movie exists.
