A psychiatrist once told me there are two very different kind of memories. First, normal memories that the conscious person knows, sees, feels, and remembers as memories. For most people, these are the only type of memories they have. I call these memories ""memories." The second kind of memories are not seen, known, felt, or remembered by the person or memories, but are experienced as current, contemporary, as is, ongoing. Digital, virtual, reality. I call these memories (which I do not personally get) "land mines." I have seen/heard of two types, Type A) the "button" or transference type where a person reacts as if you are a re-acting, re-enacting that person's abuse, buttons are pushed, land mines are stepped on, and an emotional explosion takes place, blaming you/me for things ones parents or neighbors or teachers did when the person was young; and Type B ) which is the "PTSD type", where the person relives the past as present. Either way, you the observer feel the other person's explosion, the other person's anger, blame, revenge. And they never know. Voting. As the old saying goes, I'd hate to have twelve trial jurors voting on my future, voters who don't even know how to get out of jury duty. And they'd damned sure wouldn't be my peers. Oh, well, I vote to live with the will of voters who listen to TV ads, emails, robocalls, and political chitchatter. I vote to live with whatever the outcome is, for I have no control whatsoever over anything political. Hell, I have only very limited control over even those things which comes into my personal "sphere of influence," a six foot bubble around me. I can be nice, helpful, cheerful. But I can't be nice, kind, and cheerful and be political, sure, right, self-righteous, and arrogant too.
