It will be an event that erases the struggles of non-white women. It will be an event that will try to hide the fact that white feminists heros like Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton actively argued against the rights of people of color in order to advance their own goals. Susan B. They were, in fact, “performers” trying to make a buck from tourists in #TimesSquare. As a result, we negatively mischaracterized what the Puerto Rican #community represents. Researchers who analyzed #meteorite fragments in search of micro-bacterial data found the presence of #Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) which is found in a variety of #plants, but most famously in the #cannabis plant. ​#​Astrophysicist (specialized in ​#​astrobiology) ​#​JamesHun, head of the research team said: ​"​The discovery of ​#​THC on meteorite fragments will have huge impact on the ​#​science of astrobiology. If chemical substances, that change ​#​brain functions and result in alterations in perception, mood, or consciousness in humans, find their origin in outer space, what role then has cometary impacts played on the ​#​human ​#​species? Or on ​#​life on the ​#​planet as whole? This ​#​discovery ultimately leaves us with more ​#​questions than answers​. ​It gives a whole new meaning to the term getting ​"​high” he told local reporters, with a pinch of humor." Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) were also found in a meteorite fragment in 2009 by a ​#​research team from the University of Mexico but the findings were ​#​dismissed at the time because of the “​#​controversial nature of the discovery”. From 2005 to March of this year, approximately 4,392 #children have been held in #Canadian #immigration #detention #centers. However, this number could be two or three times higher because the #government does not keep count of children who are not #detained officially, including Canadian #citizens, who are seen as "#accompanying" their parents. Canadian #border #officials can detain asylum seekers and permanent residents if their identity is in question, when they are suspected of not showing up to their next #hearing, or if they are deemed a #safety #threat. According to its website, the CBSA detains children under 18 "only as a last report" and their best #interests will be "carefully considered." #CBSA has said it does not comment on third-party studies. Most detained migrants, including all families with children, are held in one of Canada's three designated immigration holding centers, located in #Toronto (195 beds), #Laval (150 beds), and #Vancouver (24 beds for a maximum of 72 hours). Twenty-two #people were #killed or #found #dead last weekend in Nuevo Leon, #Mexico, raising #concerns over another #uptick of #violence in the wealthy northern state and posing an early challenge to its independent governor-elect, Jaime "#ElBronco" Rodriguez. On the other side of the country, in the #troubled #southern state of #Guerrero, 21 people were killed or found in clandestine #graves between Friday and Monday, centered mostly around the coastal resort city of #Acapulco. The violent weekend in Nuevo Leon began on June 19, when gunmen stormed a beer depot in the suburb of Garcia, near the state capital of Monterrey, leaving 10 people dead. State prosecutor Javier Flores Saldivar called the shooting a #dispute between #organized #crime groups for drug-selling territory, since the depot is thought to be a distribution center for former members of the #Zeta #drugcartel. Weapons and 15 pounds of marijuana were found inside. But the #victims' #relatives #disagreed with the prosecutor's version, and told local news outlets the #victims were #mostly #customers and #employees of the depot. #Boats from #Norway and #Denmark have #rescued 992 #migrants #off the #coast of #Libya in the last 24 hours. On Monday, the #Norwegian #Siem #Pilot #vessel took aboard #671 #strandedpeople from two #wooden #boats in the Mediterranean Sea, floating just #north of #Libyan capital #Tripoli. Later the same day the ship took a further 99 #moremigrants previously #aided by a #Russian #tanker. Captain Svein Kvalavaag told the Norwegian website maritime.no that of the 770 migrants 45 are children and 140 are women, three of whom were pregnant. The #rescued #migrants were taken to the Italian island of #Sicily. Then a Danish ship, a commercial vessel belonging to the Torm company, responded to a call from Italian coast guards on Monday after more boats carrying migrants were spotted in distress off the Libyan coast. Company spokesman Jesper Jensen said that this ship, Torm Arawa, picked up 222 people and #provided them with #food and #water before being taken to a port in the southern Italian region of Calabria.
