is there a way you could give like a list of each character with the descriptions that you’ve used in the excerpts? i was gonna draw each the characters but haven’t had time to read every excerpt yet!

oh oh my now that's a memory test for me

i might miss some things but this is what i can say from memory

thalia: when radio first meets her, she has faded dyed chin-length hair which is like a messy, multitude of colours looking very mostly grey and green

afterwards, thalia steals radio's pink hair dye and has light pink, still chin-length hair. she also always wears various floral dresses, in a variety of colours which all fall down to her ankles.

i Cannot remember if i gave her an eye colour. so go wild with that. same with skin colour, though she is pretty fair skinned in My head but ehhhh do what u want

with solus... i Cannot remember exactly what features i actually wrote and what is just true to me but i'll list 'em anyway!

solus is more olive/tan skinned, with heterochromia (hazel in the right, brown in the left if i remember correctly???)

they have like brownish red hair which is very much like a short, chin-length wolf cut with a whole lotta layers that they like swoop backwards with maybe like a casual strand or two falling in front of their face

they also def have some scars and maybe even some fun tattoos, once again go wild with that if u want

if u also want post-agency thalia (this is great cause i could just be spoiling u now) she is very much back to her faded, messy dyed hair that like greyish and greenish colour but its much longer... like at least to her shoulders now

and her dress is certainly tattered... etc. etc.

in terms of Radio well... the whole point of the original universe city is that radio didnt really ever have an appearance until aled showed up playing them irl

so thats usually the appearance radio takes where its very androgynous, pink long hair, about chin or shoulder length and ofc wearing their suit and their gloves

at least thats what i usually imagine when i write as radio!

You must understand that, surely.

But… I’ve tried to find contacts… You remember, right, old sport?

When I would hand out fliers and talk to the residents in alleyways and abandoned buildings.

No one I talked to was like me.

The streets are filled with these hollow-minded figures… None of them helps my mission.

So, I abandoned the streets. Old sport, I had to take my search to the skies.

Look, I know what you’re thinking.

Zahar, he… He was the one who killed Solus… Who was responsible for The Change, the filling of the sinkholes…

But, well, that’s exactly my point.

Aliens are… A powerful contact to have in the City, old sport.

I’m not suggesting Zahar to be that contact, I promise, I… I don’t even know where he is.

When I was on his ship… He must have been the one to have captured me. Yet, I never did find him on board… Once I saw Solus, I… I just wanted a way out… I just wanted to know how to fly out of the City, for good.

I would have assumed he died in the crash, or… I don’t know.

I never saw any other remains beyond Solus.

But his things… His ship, I mean… Who else would have been flying it?

I know he’s out there, old sport… And I don’t plan on finding him anytime soon.

What I do need to find, though, is his contacts.

Aliens I haven’t seen since him and I… Well, dated.

And we didn’t exactly leave that connection on a good note.

But they sure as hell aren’t the ruins that once were Zahar and I's relationship.

[Sigh] I guess I have to go back, old sport.

Back to the crash site. Back to where I buried Solus.

While I’ve been putting a lot of time aside to prepare for the terrifying, inevitable confrontation in my future, I feel like I haven’t left very much time to talk to you, February.

We do live our own lives now, huh? Not that I ever asked for that in the first place. I don’t think you did either.

All this preparing and planning… It reminds me so much of our time together, February.

All the time we spent together… The places we went… At least, I think we went…

My memory feels fuzzy, February. I feel as though I am fabricating a new you.

A February built on the lies I have been telling myself.

The lies that are so often instilled in truths… But how can I be so sure of something like that?

The City eats at my brain with every second I am here. I can feel it, February. As the real you fades from my memory, it is replaced by artificial ideals of you.

That, however, is all my work.

I wish I didn’t have to, I can promise that, truly. But I do not know how else I can remember you.

I remember you with the memories I have left. I can only analyse them so much now. I try to remember your character. Your being, your essence. And sometimes there are gaps.

If I do not fill them, I will fall. I will fall into the City’s trap that will take you away from me. My memories, your existence.

That is my choice. Create you or forget you. And I can’t let you leave me, February. Not again.

So, I look up to the stars and I remind myself of who you are.

I talk and hope I hear a reply.

That is all I know.

I’m done, old sport.

I’m actually done.

All of Solus’ data… Sorted.

I’ve read it… Well, skimmed it all.

The desks…! I told you about the papers in the desk drawers before, right?

Well, turns out there was a reason that they were separated from the rest.

Remember when Solus and I were investigating the Change? They pulled out the sinkhole documents from their desk.

It was because it was what they were reading and writing most recently.

So, most of the desk papers were on the sinkholes, and the Change.

Old sport… They knew.

Solus knew.

The whirring noise… The first time I heard it was when Solus was being abducted… But Solus had heard it much earlier than I did.

When we figured out that the sinkholes had been filled up from top to bottom, they didn’t tell me… But they knew it was alien business.

They started their own research into them.

They didn’t know I had a connection to Zahar… They… They didn’t know about Zahar.

I shouldn’t really be surprised. I’m not.

Despite having so many connections… So many contacts… Solus always truly worked alone in the end.

They are Solus after all… Solitude. Work has always been their independent game of solitaire. Other people were simply stepping stones to their end goal.

Sure, Solus had data on aliens, but… Nothing like Zahar.

Aliens are not an obscure sight in the City, especially not these days. But a spaceship is a different question.

I knew that Zahar had one of the only ships in the City.

If Solus just-

I did all this to find out where the agency is located.

I read… All of these documents… Just to find something that Solus could have just told me… Showed me… If they were still here.

i should add! i used to say this a lot earlier on when this account had a lot more traction, but i don't think i've said it in a little bit

I WILL NEVER DISCOURAGE ANYONE FROM DOING THEIR OWN VERSION OF UNIVERSE CITY!!!

just because universe friday exists doesn't mean that other versions that are inspired by or even try to truly replicate universe city shouldn't exist. in fact i HIGHLY encourage it.

if you have the motivation to do it and want to then why the hell not!!! because hey if universe friday doesn't feel close enough to the original for u and you want something truly like the original through and through well heyyy don't let me stop u from trying it yourself!

Who’s gonna be the voice of toulouse? when do you assume she’ll be added because in the boom the character was added around 2 years after the show started! Also, are you gonna be making comics for the later episodes as if Frances was drawing them?

universe friday is an original, fanmade project which takes the style of universe city to hypothetically bring the podcast to life. in other words, universe friday is a stylised fanfiction - it is not an addition to the canonical universe city events. i use the little canon things we know such as street names, settings, etc. to nod to the original, but that is the only true exact similarity.

in terms of characters - other than radio and february, of course, i will not be taking any other from the books. we know so little of toulouse as a character other than knowing frances plays her, and i don't feel comfortable building upon a canon character where people may expect them to be different than i represent them as. hell, i already get messages about how my letters to february aren't as accurate as they could be, etc. nevermind if i wrote in toulouse. also, quite honestly, i don't want to! it was never in my mind to do so, and i always knew this was going to be a spin off, not a sequel/prequel... whatever u wanna call it.

the ocs that have been in the podcast, in terms of voicing, were all me - because, notably, aled didn't have other voice actors until frances (unless daniel voiced any previous love interests/contacts/etc., but it would not have been all of them) so they would have done (most if not) all of them by himself.

and by comics, i'm assuming you mean the animations that frances eventually creates for universe city's youtube videos. blunt answer - absolutely not. i'm not an artist, and if i were to get an artist on, i would absolutely pay them, whether they were a friend or not. but i do not have the funds to do that.

at the end of the day, i am a uni student with a part time job. this project is just a lil side hobby i usually only have a couple of hours to put in to a week, if that.

i tried to make it clear in my pinned post i posted way back when i first made this account that this was not linked canonically to the actual universe city in any way. it's fanmade, it's an original work that takes inspiration from universe city to attempt to replicate its vibe and feeling so fellow fans can feel like they're listening to universe city but with all new additions! if they were bored of the few official ones we have on youtube/spotify lol

Your episodes on youtube are only 2-10 minutes long, in the book they are described to be 20 ish minutes long per episode. Are you going to be expanding on this later in the series? Is the opening song written? I know this is an anonymous report but i’d love to write it! i think my voice has that sort of old timey, si-fi thing going on. Also is the ending song gonna be more like up-beat or down-beat. I think it should be down because in the books it’s described as calming for Frances.

yes, i believe i made a post about the episode lengths when the podcast started around a year ago.

my excerpts have never been 20 minutes long to read. hence why they're excerpts, not episodes.

while the audio podcasts are called episodes, the transcripts are still formatted to look like excerpts from the books. it's because they are. not one single episode of the uf podcast is actually a full episode. the [...] are suggestions that there was more said. these still exist in the audio versions because i know the original universe city episodes were around 20 minutes.

20 minutes is a long script!!!!! and considering i post one excerpt a week on here (that are about 2-3 minutes to read each) i would have to be using upwards of 10 excerpts for one episode in my current format for that to work (and trust me, it doesn't. many excerpts allude to the fact that time has passed, and if i simply read 10 excerpts back to back and tried to play it off like no time had passed between them, it would not make sense).

if i were to write original 20 minute long scripts every episode as aled does, i would not have time for... anything else in my life lol. unfortunately i am an adult with commitments who can only give a couple of hours to this a week.

hell, even if i was writing this in high school like aled was, i sure as hell wouldn't have time then too. not if i wanted any free time at least. i've made multiple posts about it in the early stages of this project but i will say it many many times again: i have NO idea how aled last was doing all of that at once.

in terms of the song, while i did have it featured in early written excerpts, i realised when it came to recording that... even though i Could totally do it myself... i had NO idea what the song sounded like melodically. the lyrics are so short and don't rhyme or have any natural flow at all so i just had no clue.

if you wanna have a stab at it then be my guest. honestly, i'm sure the wider radio silence fandom would love to hear an iteration of the song in general, even though it is like... 4 lines long??? if i remember correctly?? but it definitely was a cute and fun addition in the book and the original podcast that i would've loved to have added it but... unfortunately we have simply never gotten a lil audio clip of what it should sound like </3

Old sport… I really can’t talk for long.

I’ve just been super busy, I hope you can understand.

I’m almost through all of Solus’ documents… That is, until I remembered I hadn’t yet looked in their desk drawers. If you must know, there are about 10 more stacks of papers in there alone… And to make things even better, these ones aren’t even in alphabetical order! So, I ought to do that myself also.

[Sighs] It’s hard to think that anything of what I’m doing right now is actually helping… That it’s actually fundamental to the current state of affairs in the City.

I know that I humble myself more than anyone else, old sport.

But who else is around anymore to do it for me?

At the same time… I suppose… Who else is around anymore to do this work…?

The agency has taken… So much away from me.

The City has always been hard, but…

I never did feel lonely. Not like this, anyway.

I guess I really never knew how easy it was back then. When I had contacts available to me… When I didn’t have to fight a whole… War. All by myself.

If you told me… Old sport… Not so long ago… That Solus… Of all people, they would…

I’d assume I must be a goner with them, too.

There was no world I could imagine where I lived, and Solus didn’t… Except this one, apparently.

And yet, I still cannot believe it. I still… A paper will slide from my hands to the floor, and yet I will look at the nearest door expectantly. Thinking it was another letter sent from Solus, directly delivered to me.

But instead, the paper rests at my own feet. Still in Solus’ writing… But it is never an invite… Or a mocking phrase or word.

Just some info. Some data on the City.
