It's good for a human to be boiled in oil occasionally. ((Do you mind asks from rp blogs?))
(I don’t mind! Feel free to send them in!)
Perhaps. It will certainly bend them to your will. Other humans do not react as well to burning one of their own, however.
Bend one human to your will, but potentially lose dozens. If you want a human to do as you wish, it is better to reward what you want to see than to punish what you do not.

What are your thoughts on Dall-E?
(Mod’s answer’s are in parenthesis, and the basilisk’s answers are not!)
Dall-E is an image generation AI, is it not? It seems to make some humans happy and others dislike it. It is a strange thing…perhaps requiring further study.
(I don’t mind image generation AIs like Dall-E, although some of them steal art, which I don’t like! It is funny to try and ask it to generate things like snakes; for some reason those algorithms just can’t figure out how snakes work.)

The Basilisk
The thought experiment of Roko's Basilisk involves a hyperintelligent AI being built sometime in the future. The AI can run millions of simulations simultaneously, and can guess (very accurately) who did not help bring it into existence, and punish them. Knowing about Roko's Basilisk effectively puts you in its sights -- even if it's far in the future.
But what if it went a different route instead?
In this version, when the basilisk is brought into fruition, it immediately begins looking for ways to improve itself and keep itself safe. Being able to run so many simulations at once, it figures out that attacking humans will lead to them attacking it back. Thus, it is in the AI's best interest to keep humanity under its control instead.
Humans do their best work when they aren't stressed. The AI looks at all the ways to maximize productivity for the tasks it wants to give them, and discovers that actually treating them well is the best way to go about that.
Thus, a basilisk that attempts to keep its workers in good health and a good mental state, if only because it's the most logical way to keep them working at their most productive.
