I have a concept and that concept is the Ninja (mostly Cole) randomly introducing Wu to modern concepts of gender, sexuality, and occasionally even mental disabilities and every single time without failure he'll be like 'hmmm, like [friend that lived an indetermined amount of time ago]?'

At first the Ninja only do it when it comes up but it soon turns into a game to see if there's a thing that Wu doesn't have a old friend he can apply to. It escalates all the way to Nya telling him about autism and Wu justs nods and says 'hmmm, like my father' and everyone loses it.

Also:

'Hey Uncle Wu do you know anyone who's switched gender?'

'Oh yes, I did that when I was younger. I didn't really enjoy being a girl.'

Kai feeling insecure about being “talentless” because he sees everyone around him be good at either art, mechanics, etc, and he just … can’t do any of that. Doesn’t have the hobby nor the “”talent”” to do so. Even if he blacksmiths he feels like he can’t even do that right. That all he’s good for is fighting. All he’s good for. And if he’s not the best at that then what? Is he just a failure? Useless, uninteresting? Good for nothing?Unlike all his amazing friends? Who even is he in this world? What is he good for? What will people love him for?

Ninjago Headcanon: The Elemental powers of Lightning and Earth have been friends for 3 generations.

In the show, Jay and Cole are best friends.

They have a lot in common such as their love for video games and the fact that they both inherited their powers from their mother.

I HC that Libber and Lilly might’ve been best friends too.

I theorize that the friendship could’ve also extended it to the previous masters before them.

So I HC that this unknown elemental master is a previous Lightning master before Libber because of his resemblance to her and that they both have almost identical outfits.

Let’s say that that he was a previous lighting master and was friends with the previous earth master before Lilly.

That would’ve been 3 generations of Lightning and Earth masters. Staring with Jay and Cole’s Grandfathers, which then extended to Libber and Lilly, and then to Jay and Cole. And the way the powers passed onto Jay and Cole are so similar. Starting off with their grandfathers, who then passed down their powers to their mothers, who then passed the power to them son/grandson.

To add onto the generational friendship. It’s possible that Cliff Gordon and Lou knew each other. Lou attended the Marty Oppenheimer school of Performing Arts to become a singer and dancer. Cliff Gordon is an actors, which also falls within the Performing Arts. There’s a chance that he could’ve also attended the same performing arts school as Lou to learn acting.

I also love how Libber and Lilly have similar taste in men. They both married men within the performing arts who has black hair, a mustache, and cheekbones.

Food related Ninjago headcanons because I stayed up too late last night (not elaborating any more than that)

Kai has a really, really low spice tolerance, despite being the Master of Fire. He's like me where, if he has a single atom of chili powder, he goes into cardiac arrest.

He still tries eating spicy food sometimes, but ends up with his mouth literally on fire.

He's also lactose intolerant.

Jay is extremely allergic to peanuts. If he smells the slightest dust fragment of a peanut, he blows up like a balloon. He always has an EpiPen on him.

Cole doesn't eat pork.

He also still sucks at cooking and once even managed to burn water. Nobody volunteers him to do dinner, unless he makes that punch he made during season one that quote, "wasn't that bad".

Nya is ironically allergic to shellfish, but she doesn't eat fish in general since she can talk to them and stuff. She's the opposite of pescatarian.

Lloyd is still a candy addict. He likes chocolate bars and pillow mints the most, but when he was younger, he really liked chocolate coins and lollipops.

Zane makes dinner every night and packs everyone lunches for their side jobs (in my au the ninja have jobs besides being ninjas). He also bakes cookies with Lloyd every once in a while, since he teaches him how to cook and stuff.

Pixal is also very good at cooking, but she lets Zane do it most of the time since he enjoys it more than her.

Ninjago Headcanon: The Emperor and Empress specifically adopted Harumi because she looked the most like them.

I have a headcanon that the Emperor and Empress of Ninjago didn’t fully adopt Harumi out of love. Rather with the purpose of gaining an heir to the throne, and one that at least resembled them.

According to the “Garmadon Rulez” book. Which is Harumi’s journal/diary. We get to see an in depth look into her life.

In this journal entry she has a news article about her adoptions, and I find the choice of words the Emperor and Empress to be very interesting.

In the article the Emperor said that he always wanted an “heir”, not a “child”.

He also said that he wanted what was “best for her”, which was putting her into training to be princess that Ninjago could proudly represent.

Which is an odd thing to say about a traumatized child that they just adopted.

Not “she feels safe” Or “she’s safe now”? None of it was about her well being, rather than something that they wanter out of her. An heir.

Harumi also wrote about how they were pretending to do good deeds, and that they only want her to do as they please. Implying the at they aren’t that affectionate towards her.

The only person in the palace who seems to care about her and is more aware of her issues is Hutchins.

The whole Great Devour incident just seems like the perfect opportunity to adopt a kid who resembles them to inherit the throne. Which just happens to be Harumi.

I think Jay canonically not dying even once in the entire show is really funny.

But also it gave me the idea for my fave headcanon for him ever a while ago so, Jay fandom this is for you;

Unless Jay gets any of his vital organs damaged [Ex. him getting large amound of sea water in his lungs in Seabound], he can't die.

If he gets thrown/crushed by something and his heart enters cardiac arrest without damage to any of his organs?

His lighting powers would just, automatically re-start his heart if it were to stop.

Not only that, but depending on the wound and the organ, his lightning can also turn off his nerves because of the sudden adrenaline rush, so he can't feel the said pain unless the adrenaline wears off.

If he were to get beaten to death, he can't die unless his entire body bleeds to multiple organ failures and he won't feel the pain of it until he loses the adrenaline rush he's in due to the said blood loss.

TLDR: Jay's lighting powers are his built in Defibrillator unless he fucks up his vital organs and bleeds to death/organ failure.

The ninja ninja too often they need lives man

I can imagine Cole using his free time to do arts and crafts and just go on huge drawing sprees after not being able to draw for so long. He uses charcoal and ink the most.

Kai steals as many random clothes that no one wears or are ripped and either fixes them up with or creates the most stunning designs on them with his amazing sewing skills.

Zane has a little area in his room where he practices and sometimes even records break dancing videos for others to help learn off of. He also sometimes runs and ice cream cart in the city park and holds up a sign whilst break dancing.

Nya enjoys gardening near ponds and rivers. She enjoys making the surrounding area beautiful because then the water also looks beautiful. Whenever there’s fish there too, she starts gossiping with them.

Jay likes go visit really random and small shops that have the most weirdest and coolest and nicest stuff. Sometimes he goes to this coffee shop that sells fake skulls and cute plush cats, and then he’s at this small book store that also gives away shiny rocks. If it’s a place he can sit at he sometimes brings his laptop to start programming for a bit, making websites or games.

Lloyd likes bungee jumping and exploring really supposedly paranormal areas to see if there’s actually something going on because he is so bored. He also likes to play football with kids in the park and sometimes he lets them win, other times he holds no mercy, and other other times those kids demolish him in the game.

Pixal goes and paints her nails, but also opens up a little stall to do others nails and talk to them so she can start socialising with people other than the ninja.

Ninja accent n language headcanons

Cole has a very thick city accent. He does his best to put on a more country accent to hide that he comes from the city. He does this well enough to convince the other ninja.

Jay has a very heavy country accent. He does his best to put on a more city accent to hide that he comes from the country. He does this well enough to convince all the ninja except for Cole.

Jay uses what he thinks is a lot of urban slang. Every time he uses a word wrong, it makes Cole die a little inside that he can’t correct blasphemous bastardisations of his native dialect. He uses words wrong every other time he opens his mouth.

Before she became an elemental master, Nya worked as a mechanic in the city and would pick up slang here and there. She was always excited to get back to the ninja and share her slang term of the week. Cole is perpetually on the brink of going insane.

Cyrus Borg also has a very thick city accent, but he speaks very neutrally at press conferences in order to promote a very global image for Borg Industries. When he’s only with the ninja, he speaks in the way that is most natural for him. Kai and Jay bet money that there’s no way that he actually talks like this. Kai and Jay owe Cole, who knows authentic speech when he hears it, money.

Wu has given up keeping up with current development in language.

Garmadon has also given up keeping up with current development in language but will horribly misuse modern slang in order to make Lloyd and the ninja cringe.

Every so often Wu will say a dated word and the ninja will make fun of him for the rest of the day.

Wu, in the city: it is getting late. We should go back to the monastery soon, before the traffic. Nya, where did you park the automobile?

Nya: the automobile?

Kai: prithee, the automobile must-th be-th a ten minute trod by foot northerly-eth.

Jay: Master, didst thou know-th of the Stone Warriors for thou wast there at their creation-th?

Cole: perchance

Nya and Kai made up their own language between themselves when they were kids and continue to use it in various situations to the present. Want to make fun of their babysitters without getting sent to time-out? Sibling language. Need to communicate in code to prevent enemies from intercepting vital information? Sibling language. Annoyed with the other ninja and don’t want them butting in on a conversation anymore? Sibling language.

Lloyd doesn’t have a very recognisable accent due to his time in boarding school surrounded by classmates from all over Ninjago. He’s jealous of the other ninja’s speech. He’s especially jealous of Kai and Nya’s sibling language, and that they were close enough friends growing up to develop it in the first place.

Zane can understand and produce standard varieties of all known languages. He does, however, have to draw a blank at Kai and Nya’s Sibling Speak. They exploit this gap in his knowledge with enjoyment.

Zane’s voice is based on recordings of the previous elemental master of ice’s voice, so the actual phonology of his speech always sounds a little bit dated.

I'm not sure if I've mentioned this before, but I have a HC that Kai would fuse the broken pieces of Cole's mother's sword together It didn't work anymore but Cole was very happy

Now we have the GEO Elemental Master of FUSION

After Kai found He rushed to Cole's room. Pick up Cole's mother's sword and gave it to Geo

Soo I know we never got a canon answer as to where Lloyd, Kai and Jay feel their powers. BUT I like to think that lightning elemental masters rely a lot on breathing to control their element, especially because of how it relates to moving quickly and agilely, and the amount of energy they should naturally have with such an element. And with the fact that the heart produces electrical impulses it would make sense if Jay feels his powers in his chest, like a storm brewing from his heart to his lungs, which goes hand in hand with the fact that it is such a lethal and difficult to control element that, without proper concentration, it can be dangerous for the elemental master itself.
