like. i don’t agree, but i can understand how publishers would have an issue with something being depicted in art versus in written description. but i really don’t understand why a swear word or slur should be treated differently in a speech bubble than in quotes.

ronan in the graphic novel is such a distinguished member of society. no alcoholism, no drag racing, no saying slurs and insults, no visible self-harm looking scars, no mentions of him skipping class - in fact he's not even getting expelled - no picking fights and no saying inappropriate ass shit to adam and blue just for the hell of it, no reasons to improve on anything about his own character really so he straight up doesn't. declan just looks like a massive asshole for having any issue with this squeaky clean law abiding god-fearing citizen
