One of the baristas at a nearby Starbucks makes me lose my mind every time I’m working there by saying things that are not outside the spectrum of normal human words but are just slightly off-the-wall.

Barista: Welcome to Starbucks, home of delicious, what deliciousness can I put in motion for you today?

Customer: … Can I get a trenta pink drink please?

Barista: Go big or go home, we here at Starbucks appreciate your commitment, what else can I get started for you?

Customer: Nitro cold brew with shots of espresso please.

Barista: Brave of you to commit to staying awake for three days, anything else today?

Barista: *slams open drive-thru window* HI HOW ARE YOU?

Customer: …I’m pretty good.

Barista: Are you ready to be even better? Because you’re about to be. *hands them their coffee*

Barista, realizing that a drink was made wrong: *slams open window* SO how do you feel about surprises?

Customer: ….they’re okay.

Barista: Great because I’m about to give you one.

Barista: You have two drinks so I am going to hand you two straws which means, FANTASTIC news, these straws double as drumsticks. / You have one drink so I am going to hand you one straw and, promise not to tell anyone, this straw doubles as a magic wand.

The true deadly sins

Lust

Not a sin- feeling sexual attraction, sex with consenting partners, masturbation, consuming pornographic media, having several sexual partners, sex before mariage. IT’S A SIN WHEN- the person projects lust onto an unwilling recipient person and does not take into account their wants or consent. Rape, harassment, sexual assault, catcalling, dick pics.

Gluttony

Not a sin- food, enjoying food, cooking, eating sweets, eating meat. In the larger sense, accumulating material things you enjoy, like books or collectibles or whatever.  IT’S A SIN WHEN- It deprives other people of what they need.

Envy

Not a sin: Wanting things you see other people have, like money, power, fame. IT’S A SIN WHEN: This is how you define people, and stop respecting them as humans. It’s a sin when you use them for what they have and what they can bring you.

Greed

Not a sin: Wanting financial security, working hard for the things you want.  IT’S A SIN WHEN: Your own financial growth depends on keeping other people impoverished and suffering.

Pride

Not a sin: Being proud of your accomplishments, liking your looks, dressing up IT’S A SIN WHEN: It stops you from accepting your faults and seeing how you can be wrong, not admitting that you can better yourself. 

Wrath

Not a sin: Righteous anger at situations, being mistreated, seeing other people suffer, at the injustice of the world. Self-defense. Revolution.  IT’S A SIN WHEN: Violence towards defenceless people, hitting your partner or your kids,.  Violence fuelled by intolerance and bigotry. 

Sloth

Not a sin: Resting. Sleeping. Taking a day or a year off. Being unproductive. Playing videogames. IT’S A SIN WHEN: You stay inactive when action is required. When people need you and you’d rather do nothing.

So Bird Harpies? Bat Harpies?? Hell yeah!!!

Saw a beautifully drawn angel AU, but when discussing it in the discord server we all decided we would like the pretty wings and flowey clothes with a less religious undertone so; HARPIES!!

We have been talking about this all weekend but here’s the gist; Muriel is his same old grumpy mountain man self, and sets sail from the quickly industrializing mainland to accidentally find himself on an Avalon-like island full of Harpies. They’re pretty shy of humans to begin with- as it turns out, they ended up here decades ago to escape the violence of humans who wanted to drive the harpies out of their homelands for commercial gain, and who hunted them for their feathers, fur and bones.

The Major Arcana exist as ancient magical beings who the harpies (and probably many other mythical creatures) descended from; they’re still pretty cryptic and hard to deal with lmfao. Lucio made some shady Devil deals in a futile attempt to protect his bat clan, which is how his fluffy ass ended up with the cool horns and eyes. (I promise it’s not just aesthetics.) Anyway, as the industrial revolution spreads the harpies generally all decide to flee, going to safe havens under the protection of the various arcana. Divided like this, and often under chaotic and sudden circumstances, it’s difficult for them know who and how many of their kind are still alive.

On the High Priestess’ island, Nadia is unofficially leading a little community that has done well enough for itself over the years. At some point Julian snuck off to learn healing from the Hanged Man, and generally everyone tries to ignore Lucio’s very annoying attempts to be the leader. Muriel coming to town throws them all for quite a loop though they warm up to him eventually, and a shipwrecked Miss Prentiss ( @arcanaprentiss ;)) makes things even more interesting and chaotic. :3 anyway that’s my novel, show me your beautiful bird/bat/insect?/idk folks if you’re so inclined, I am way too into this AU for my own good.
