I feel like a bunch of people don’t appreciate video game OSTs and don’t view them as actual music.

A few years ago a friend asked me what I was listening to on my earphones. I don’t fully remember what I was actually listening to at the time, but i remember it was some Kirby track. so I passed him an earphone(wireless) and he asked in a somewhat surprised/confusing tone “is this mario music?” And then I said that it was in fact, Kirby music.

People, especially those who don’t game a lot, don’t appreciate video game music, and scoff at them for being “lesser” than whatever music is mainstream. And it annoys me to no end because video game music can be MUCH better than any standard song, especially if you know the context of said soundtrack
