weirdly specific and unrelated asks to know someone well:
chipotle order?
thoughts on veganism?
a specific color that gives you the ick?
mythical creature you think/believe is real?
favorite form of potato?
do you use a watch?
what animal do you look forward to seeing when you visit an aquarium?
do you change into specific clothes for the house when you get home?
do you have a skincare routine (and how many steps is it)?
on a plane, do you ask for apple or orange juice?
anything from your childhood you’ve held on to?
brand of haircare/bodycare/skincare that you trust 100%?
first thing you’re doing in the purge?
do you think you’re dehydrated?
rank the methods of death: freezing, burning, drowning
thoughts on mint chocolate chip?
an anxious compulsion you do everyday?
your boba/tea order?
the veggie you dislike the most?
favorite disney princess movie?
a number that weirds you out?
do you have an emotional support water bottle?
do you wear jewelry?
which do you find yourself using, american or british english?
would you say you have good taste in music?
how’s your spice tolerance?
what’s your favorite or go-to outfit?
last meal on earth?
preferred pasta noodle?
ask me anything !
leave an ask for the person you reblog it from!

I'm so fucking stoked for my first semester because I'm taking an intro to fantasy/science fiction literature course that I got to keep in my schedule because it fulfills some graduation requirements
this means I get to my science fiction (re: star trek) agenda

Ao3 does not need an algorithm, you're just lazy
Ao3 does not need a 1-5 star rating system, you just want to bring down authors writing for FREE
Ao3 does not need automatic censorship, it is an archive, therefore anything can be posted
Writing or reading about something illegal does not mean the author nor the reader condones it, if that were true, you could never read a story involving anything negative
Purity culture is ruining fan culture and you all are fucking annoying

A few years ago while trying to find ways to commit suicide as painlessly as possible, I came across a PDF of Dr. Paul Quinnett's The Forever Decision. Thinking it might go into actual methods of suicide (I read an article once that actually did that and was trying to find it again) I started to read it, and I think I only got about two pages in before I was crying too much to actually see the words.
I downloaded the PDF to my hard drive and I open it again whenever I'm feeling too suicidal to do much else, but not enough to start booking a ride to the hospital. And every time without fail I only go up to a few pages before backing off and choosing to live another day just because suicide suddenly seems even more unbearable than whatever the hell upset me in the first place.
All the book really does is [I'm pulling a summary from GoodReads here as, again, I've read no more than 5 pages] "discusses the social aspects of suicide, the right to die, anger, loneliness, depression, stress, hopelessness, drug and alcohol abuse, the consequences of a suicide attempt, and how to get help."
But it also starts with the author kindly asking the reader to complete the book before going through with anything, and for some reason I'm compelled to really just try to read it all before finalizing everything. Despite not yet completing it (hopefully never will) I think I can safely say it's saved my life at least a few times now.
It's intentionally legal to copy and redistribute this book to keep it as accessible as possible, and it's very easy to find, but here's a link for it anyways.

the mcspirk scenes in s3 are killing me, what the HELL
Kirk being all soft and solemn during McCoy's health scare is ALSO killing me I haven't made it to the end of the episode ("For The World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky") but yowzers I'm enjoying this trope with these three

if I had a nickel for every time Star Trek was mentioned in a book I'm reading, I'd have two nickels. It's not a lot, but it's weird that these books were read in succession and they AREN'T Star Trek novelizations

seeing one of my posts in the wild is a crazy experience because it's like... "Oh I just posted something similar to this! someone agrees with me... oh wait... this someone is ME??? this is a garbage take wow why the fuck did I think it was a good idea to post this???" and then I realize this happens because I'm chronically spewing bullshit

a lot of shows today rely on visual gore to make an impact on the audience. I think it's much more impressive when a director can have the same effect without all the visual shock because it proves how strong they are at what they do. we know that Mr. Spock is so incredibly important to Kirk (as his first officer and as his friend) that the audience sees how much this affects him, and that's enough
I'm glad that "Spock's Brain" was made and released in the 60s, because I'm willing to bet that if the episode was made today, the showrunners would absolutely have filmed a scene where McCoy and Chapel wake up to find Spock sprawled on a biobed with his skull open and scraped empty... and that's not an image I really want to see, so I guess thank god for 60s censorship in this case?

was reading a romance/erotica novel a friend loaned me and in the middle of the book the main character is chopping vegetables to prep for a whole dinner party with her friends and the love interest shows up and they hook up & his hands go everywhere you’d expect them to and then afterward while she’s still catching her breath on the floor he’s like “I’ll finish this for you 😏” and he PICKS UP THE VEGGIES and knife with his UNWASHED HANDS and starts prepping. I was floored. I couldn’t finish the book. call me what you will. weak perhaps. but i say to you we need editors with a food handlers certificates. we need line cook beta readers that’s what I believe
