the movie really undersells the fact that frodo spent half a year planning to make his departure from the shire as inconspicuous as possible and merry and pippin and sam saw him doing that, figured out he was leaving the shire and that it had something to do with bilbo’s ring, and then spent nearly as long preparing to go with him. icons

Hi, I’ve been looking for a bagginsshield fanfiction for about three days now I have looked under every tag I can. I thought I had it bookmarked I didn’t and I need help

It’s short I’m very sure it doesn’t have it anymore than five or six chapters maybe less I can’t remember the name. I can’t remember the author. All I remember is that it was everybody lives au Bilbo goes back to the Shire and he and Thorin send letters to each other pretty regularly but the messenger Raven Bilbo sent with his latest letter notices some orcs and comes back to warn him so he warns everyone he can that they need to evacuate some of the hobbits don’t believe him and stay behind, but everyone else believes him and they leave and they’re about a day out when the Shire goes up inflame Thorin somehow finds out that the Shire has been attacked. I think from Gandolf, but it might have been from an elf I can’t remember. Thorin doesn’t believe that Bilbo is dead and says in front of his council that Bilbo and any hobbit he brings will be able to live on dwarf land for as long as they need a few more chapters of bilbo being the Bamf that he is. He and the I think they said 300 hobbits he managed to save end up at bards Village, where they then sent messengers up to the dwarfs where Thorin comes rushing down with Kiki and Fili and after giving Bilbo a hug and says that he and all of the hobbits he brought have sanctuary and then like one more chapter of the two of them being cute together

Please help me. I don’t want to spend a week looking for this.

Hi! Could it possibly be "The Time For Home" by Drenagon? It's hardly a short fic, but it's honestly the only one I know that has a similar story. Otherwise, I'm afraid I haven't read the fic you're looking for but I hope you will eventually!

We've been browsing posts about other people's LotR-inspired weddings for inspiration, and obviously there's a spectrum ranging from "used the movie font for one piece of decor" to "every single guest is dressed as a hobbit," but my favorite is "this looks like just a normal wedding in almost every way, but also Gandalf is there."
