One of the many reasons [Director Greg] Beeman enjoys working with Tom Welling is that the series star will come up with ideas which aren’t just about his own character. “He frequently has ideas which are cool for the show,” he notes. “There’s a great example in Vortex. There was a very complicated scene at the end of the episode where Roger Nixon is dragging Tom through the woods looking for his car, and he was supposed to find his car in the tree. Tom said, ‘Wouldn’t it be funny if he had one of those key alarms, and pushed the button. You heard the sound, and that made him look up and see the car?” It was a great, totally comedic idea. It wasn’t about Clark’s character, and that’s what struck me as being unusual about it. Many other actors will have good ideas to contribute, but they mostly involve their characters.”

When Superman is tired of saving the world all the time, he likes to relax by dancing. It helps him to keep his focus on what is important: adagio, battement, couru. The world is very far away and he does not need to have it clamouring for his attention when he is executing a perfect pas de cheval in mid-air.

The dancers compliment him and ask him to come back soon.
