Here we will never forget Osprey, Peril's surrogate father figure and first true friend, who cared for her and taught her how to read. May he rest in peace.

Just as a heads-up: I'm not going to be following the Smaugust pace as rigidly as last year. I did that once just to see if I could, and I did my time. Expect me to miss some days and prompts this round, and the schedule to slip drastically. Perhaps into Smaugtember, or even Smaugtober.

#2 - Fungi

Smaugust 2025

There aren't enough scenes where Tamarin and Kinkajou get to hang out. I imagine when they do, this kind of nature excursion is what they usually get up to. They like gathering medicinal herbs and mushrooms. Kinkajou spots them from far away, and then Tamarin tells her that 99% of all the mushrooms she points out are highly poisonous. Then Tamarin finds all the good ones on her own, but pretends Kinkajou helped.

It seems this time they brought Turtle along. Good thinking, now Tamarin has to sort out twice the amount of dangerous look-a-like fungi once they get back.

I actually had a different, more elegant sketch for Whiteout at first, but I felt it didn’t really capture her charm so I redid it to be more softer. Love that gal and her neurodivergent brain and how her thoughts come out like poetry.

Whiteout Headcanons:

Dabbled in a lot of artistic hobbies like charcoal art, crochet, and song writing. Painting by far is her favorite though.

Has very weak seer powers, and they are limited to very short bursts of future vision she can’t control. And it is no where as intense of some other future visions other NightWings at the time had. They just quietly came and went, like snowflakes falling from the sky.

She’s actually quite warm to the touch, contrasting her more IceWing appearance, at least in comparison to her brother Darkstalker.

Often went down to the Talon Peninsula’s beaches to walk on the sand and go swimming, before the NightWings fled to the volcanic island.

Auklet is interesting because she’s only a baby, and thus a lot of her characteristics are “just being a baby.” So most of my headcanons are based in an around what she would be like when she is older.

Auklet Headcanons:

Looks a lot like a brighter, softer version of her father, Gill.

Chubby and round like her brother Turtle.

Probably the most tomboyish one of her sister when she’s is grown. Isn’t going to be as interesting in the title princess or queen, much to Coral’s dismay.

She’ll also be very rebellious as a teenager, the type to sneak out when everyone is asleep to attend some none approved rock concert in another Queendom. Poor Coral, she’ll have a lot of heart attacks in the future because of Auklet. (Lmao I do not feel bad for her though)

Tried to really get the “People’s Queen” energy into her. A lot more rough and tumble that previous SandWing Queen and willing to get dirty with her peripheral to get things done and, hey, maybe that’s the Queen they need anyways. Also I always imagined her having some sort of cactus green on her.

Thorn Headcanons:

Thorn is middle aged, somewhere in her 50s. She had Sunny later in life, after spending most of her formative years fighting to the top of the Scorpion Den and survive the criminal and mob activities.

Lost her tail barb in a cactus bombing in the Den, and after her tail healed she fascinated a prosthetic barn to the made up of scrap and an old sharpened sickle.

First met Stonemover when she saved him from being mugged in the middle of the night, and thus their love story turned strained exes began.

Cobra will never have her son back because, as far as Thorn is concerned, Qibli is HER son now. And now she has two kids: her adoptive street rat son who’s has quick wit and chronically starved for love and attention and optimistic prophecy bound daughter who now a teacher for her adoptive street rat son.

Was born with a lot of sharp horn protrusions than the average SandWing, which is what inspired her name.
