Unironically getting Mr. Terrific to play a major role in the story was such a genius move.

Having a super genius who dresses like an f1 racer, does a "Gunn special" fighting scene, and gets to scold the main villain for being a dumbass maybe is what REALLY puts the nail in the coffin of anyone being able to walk out of that movie think Lex Luthor was cool.

Because here's a smart-ass who's actually cool. Probably the coolest character in the movie. And he's a hero who cares about his friends, the world, and is a little bit of a weirdo.

I feel that Guy (and to a lesser degree Hawk-girl) are kinda overshadowing Metamorpho’s appearance in the defence of Jarunpur’s civilians from the attacking army.

Because those two are there because they were asked to be. (Offscreen but Superman says he called them in)

Superman had no way to contact Metamorpho. Neither did Lois. (Mr Terrific might have since he puts tracking nanites in everyone but he’s a bit occupied with the planet being torn apart by a dimensional portal)

Metamorpho was watching the news. He saw a bunch of helpless people about to be attacked and that they put their trust in Superman to save them, most notably a child with a flag.

A man he’s spent the last few days/hours basically torturing (not willingly but that’s what he was doing) yet that man still helped save his child. He knows Superman is depleted and probably can’t make it even if he tries his hardest.

So Metamorpho goes to help those people instead. And he helps save lives

Because of Superman. And Malik

love the idea that Clark is dealing with the entire clusterfuck that was events of the Superman 2025 film (+the whole deal with his birth parents), whilst Kara was out getting completely hammered and partying on another planet to such an extent that she was still pissed when she got back to Earth.

The way Superman depicted complicit civilians is gonna stick with me.

Because usually when you have your villain, usually the civilians working for them are gonna be largely faceless or cowed. And then when the hero crashes the scene, only the armed goons are taken out while said civilians flee to remove any questions.

In here though, you can tell they all enjoy working for Luthor. The technicians in his hq have fun plugging in directions to Ultraman. And those in the base camp wear tropical shirts while listening to music and playing games on their downtime. Nobody is working with rigid confirmity nor are there moral reservations (the only objection shown was when his obsession almost got them killed).

So when Mr. Terrific arrived on the scene, it is actually fitting that he wiped out the workers alongside the armed goons.

Also the way Superman's fellow prisoners not only attempted to snitch on him but actually tried to out snitch each other deserves a whole other analysis.

This minecraft short comic called "A strange Coast" made by Ian Flynn I believe, I found in a book from my library I work has to be one of the most beautiful and respectful takes on the game.

It understands minecraft so perfectly and doesn't treat it as childishly as the other stories in it did.

And all that within 10 pages and no word spoken.

Tumblr/internet media discourse people just don’t like women/young girls.

To pull from our history text books.

- People hated Vriska, like actually hated her, just for kind of being a morally grey character.

- People hated Mabel Pines, FOR LITERALLY ACTING HER AGE. This one drives me crazy because people will reference all these times where she ruined something for Dipper, I’m like, yeah as a twin, that fucking happens sometimes and I don’t go around as an adult now saying “My twins a fucking asshole for this thing he did” WHEN WE WERE 12!!??

- I met a guy who hated Katara for literally just missing her mom. “She whines about it too much.” SHES FOURTEEN!??

- Also like Rey, (Star Wars isn’t that serious stop acting like her being op is new to that universe literally Anakin existed as a Jesus metaphor.)

- Most of our other big content was misogynistic from the get go anyway. I loved SuperWhoLock but that shit didn’t like women at all from the source.

Addendum; Yeah some of these characters weren’t written well, but that’s not what the discourse is about most of the time!

And before anyone says “consume media not made for 12 year olds challenge.”
