Quick intro to my Wh40k Character: Alvaro Enzo Koritan

Deathwatch Blackshield Chaplain, formerly of the Astral claws.

tldr: "Chapter master we really need to pay the taxes!" former glory hound hindered by circumstances.

Parent chapter

Koritan was from Astral claws, the chapter that instigated the Badab war and eventually turned to chaos under Huron. He was the captain of the second company before Huron’s ascension to Chapter Master and was fiercely jealous of the man; which soon turned to hatred when the chapter master withheld Koritan’s homeworlds’ taxes for nearly a decade due to “wartime demand”. This subsequently led to his noble household falling from grace, and ended with Koritan being placed under semi-exile. (Understandable because dude definitely argued more than once about taxes, big times)

Koritan subsequently enlisted himself into deathwatch to be shipped off to distant part of galaxy, predominately out of spite, as well as the hope to reach even higher among the Adeptus Astartes via some alternative pathway. 

Eye of Damocles 

He gained prominence during the Damocles Gulf Crusade and was soon inducted into the rank of deathwatch chaplains. after more than a standard century of service in the Long Vigil, the Astral claws eventually rose as far as the reclusiarch of the watch fortress Eye of Damocles, tending to the relics and rituals of the fortress as his own body deteriorated due to an injury sustained against the Hrud.

This was not to last, however.

Koritan was known with slight infamy among the inquisition. Common to the belief of his chapter, the man regarded non-Astartes with a mixture of scorn and pity, holding that the transhuman Astartes is fundamentally superior to the frailty of humanity. His puritan ideals akin to that of Amalathianism also drew the ire of many radical inquisitors, especially those among Xanthism and Xenos Hybris factions. As he had been known to instigate the removal of certain radical inquisitorial acolytes whom he deem as unfit to serve the throne. 

Blackshield

The inquisitors could not take action due to the effectiveness of Koritan’s campaigns, and he indeed held a position of great respect among the brothers in deathwatch. But things changed with the open revolt of Astral claws at the start of the Badab war. His former chapter (whose colour he still wore with pride) called for his return prior to the start of the war, yet the message was intercepted and held through the layers of bureaucracy of the Inquision, only reached the watch fortress after the initiation of the war. 

As a matter of fact, such delay was instigated by certain members of the inquisition, who had long since wished to remover the deathwatch reclusiarch from the picture.

Koritan was immediately seized by the inquisition and was placed under intense interrogation and scrutinization due to his apparent connection with his former chapter, which was proven unnecessary as he ended up in the deathwatch predominately due to his personal grudges. After his name was cleared, (and being wiped and reworked several times by the inquisition), the chaplain rescinded all his previous connections, including his name given to him by his former chapter.

He requested the removal of his details and a transfer to other watch fortresses, which was granted. Now with the status of a black shield and adopting the name of his former watch fortress, Damocle rejoined his brothers in the deathwatch with unprecedented ferocity
