We love Star Wars!
From the moment I saw Star Wars I was hooked. The action, the sounds, the details in the world, all came together to create my fascination. I vividly remember sitting on the couch alongside my family, collectively preparing to watch The Phantom Menace. The awe I gained from the strong female roles changed my perspective as a young girl. Watching all the movies turned into an obsession for my sister and me. We soon watched all the cartoons we could find on Netflix. Not only was Star Wars full of action and entertainment, but it was also filled with multiple strong female roles. Along with the portrayal of a conflict among political leaders enhanced the comprehension of the underlying themes in Star Wars. Overall Star Wars isn't stagnant and grows with each and every one of its fans.

Feminism is everywhere
Star Wars Offered a vast range of roles including strong female roles. In 1977, when Star Wars made its debut, it introduced Princess Leia. She destroyed the norms of a female in distress being able to defend not only herself but those around her. This emerged a new era of feminism in science fiction. However, the strong princess era ended when she was portrayed in a gold bikini in the last movie of her trilogy. Thus unbeknownst to the actor, it created generations of lust and objectification from teenagers. (Frankel vii)
The following trilogy introduces Queen Padmé Amidala, later turning into a Senator, the youngest queen ever to take the throne pushing for peace in the war her planet, Naboo, was involuntarily brought into. She was strong and fearless when it came to the protection of her people. Padmé refuses to sign a treaty the trade federation tried demanding on her, immediately letting fans know she is no pushover. (Mcginley) Due to screenwriting her plot was overshadowed by romance which fit right in with where feminism was at the time.
The dawn of the new Star Wars era illuminated the rise of feminism in a new light. In 2015, Rey and Jyn were represented as strong individuals fighting alongside their male counterparts not once sexualized. Rey was in fact so skilled that she drew comments of being too overpowered. (Frankel viii) Further embracing the twenty-first century’s version of feminism.

Politics are important!
Watching the movies when I was younger was a completely different experience than watching them now. I have developed an understanding of how politics work and how it affects the storyline in creating a war which on the surface may seem like nothing. Understanding how each movie, cartoon, and series fit together also contributes to a deeper comprehension of their respective narratives. The galaxy may manifest across various media forms, yet each one is interconnected, even if they were released in different years.

The Lore
The First three episodes (The Phantom Menace, Attack of The Clones, Revenge of The Sith) develop around the fall of the Jedi Order. The Jedi Order played a prominent role in aiding to keep peace. As tension grew in the Senate about the on-going war. More and more people started to distrust that the Jedi Order was protecting them. This brought a leeway for Senator Palpatine to influence people into voting him Chancellor. Even the Queen of Naboo States “The day we stop believing in democracy is the day we lose it.” (Charles 288) But by the end of the Clone Wars, Order 66 took place. (Which was the mass killing of Jedi)
Thus what was there to protect people now has fallen under Palpatine, and he rebranded the Galactic Republic to the Galactic Empire. But unbeknown to new watchers Palptine is a sith lord. He slowly influences Anakin to the dark side by stating “Once more the Sith will rule the galaxy and we shall have peace.” (Charles 288) With the rise of Darth Vader, we move on to the next three episodes where we see the formation of a rebellion. Princess Leia is the front and center of the new rebellion we enter. The Age of the Rebellion goes from Leia barely escaping with the plans to the Death Star to fully destroying the Galactic Empire. That's the whole story, or so we thought. With the next 3 trilogy coming out in 2015, it introduced us to the First Order. The First Order attacked the New Republic that was formed after the fall of the Galactic Empire. This completes all we know about the Star Wars universe.

Where my obsession started
When me and my sister were younger we used to play as Jedi on the trampoline. Thus, fueling our minds with made-up stories and building unthinkable endings. That turned into us living together and decorating our house with Star Wars-themed items, collecting all that we could find, even lightsabers. Star Wars was one of the first shows that sparked my interest in it when I was little and it is held dearly in my heart. As I grew so did my love for Star Wars which is the same for many other fans. There’s an indescribable magic in Star Wars that unites people and creates a sense of togetherness, opening doors to a whole new world of shared experiences. Stars Wars continually evolves, building upon its own legacy and attracting fans from across the globe.

So many fans!!
Star Wars is a timeless saga that evolves with its fans. The franchise spans movies, TV series, games, books, and more, appealing to diverse audiences. The meanings of “being a fan” and of “Star Wars” have changed so much during my lifetime that it’s hard to answer in terms of more or less. (Will Brooker 1) Star Wars is able to grow with you and adapt your understanding of the universe. The Star Wars franchise has expanded across various media formats. Initially released in 1977, it primarily targets a male audience. Despite skepticism about science fiction movies, Star Wars defied expectations and became a massive success, leading to sequels and fans begging for deeper narratives like Darth Vader’s backstory. Fans eagerly anticipated new releases gathering outside theaters on release days to share the excitement. However, the excitement soon fell on the original fan’s kids, sparking a new generation of viewers. Disney’s Takeover has further diversified the franchise, offering endless possibilities and engaging each generation with new stories.
