Lushsux is an Australian street artist who’s been my go-to favourite for years. His street art is very popular, being constantly showcased in the news for different reasons such as being political or abstract, or making an honourary  portrait of someone who has passed. His funny and colourful graffiti very much appeals to me. The fact that he makes art for fun on the daily, some with no real meaning at all but to make people smile and laugh has all of my respect.

Flamenco dancing is a highly expressive Spanish dance-form. The art is there, it’s wonderful. There is such strong emotions when you watch Flamenco dancing and perform it. As I have some Spanish background, I very much identify as someone who practices Spanish culture. Flamenco dancing being an important part of it.

“Map of Human Touch” done by Emma Krenzer is a map she made for school. She was asked to make a map, and instead of making the kind of map we are used to seeing, she made a map of human touch. This picture of a woman is covered by different coloured finger paint and on the bottom right is a legend of who touched her where. This picture touches on sexual assault, a huge problem that has been going on for as long as people have been alive. Something i’m too familiar. This issue strongly matters to me. This happens to children, students, older women, no matter what age. Every woman’s body is her own and no one is ever “asking for it”.

Melanie Martinez is a 24 year old singer, song writer, music video director, and photographer who gives an empathetic face and a strong voice to the feminist movement. Melanie Martinez has a strong influence in my life, she openly speaks upon things like woman’s rights and LGBTQ+ rights. Her songs and film impact me in a very positive way, an artist I can relate to very well. Her most recent album “K-12″ is incredibly symbolic and beautiful. It sends messages of feminism, sex abuse and so forth. She uses her platform very positively and I have all of the respect in the world for her and look up to her as a role model.

When I think of art, I immediately think of video games. It is my biggest hobby and passion. My favourite video games are usually the ones with the prettiest character design and detail, most well-developed story and so on. Final Fantasy XV is a perfect example for this. It is the most beautiful, well put together game I have ever played. Making it my most favourite game ever, most likely. It’s beautiful and also inspires me and my own art and influences my own story writing.

This art belongs to the Castlevania Netflix Original show. This art style is incredibly beautiful and different than most anime art styles, resembling the art from the Castlevania video game box arts and bringing it to life. It’s beautiful, elegant and looks so dynamic and interesting. Not many anime art styles play a wow factor for me, but watching this anime really blew me away. It is definitely a style that inspires me, I wish to achieve the same beauty in my own art.

When I did my self-portrait, I left all the pimples out because you always should. Pimples are a temporary condition and they don't have anything to do with what you really look like. Always omit the blemishes-they're not part of the good picture you want.

This self portrait is done with an art style that I really like. The artist seemed to want to make an emotional yet very soft and simple piece. The colours are extremely simple, pink and beige. Pink being my favourite colour, so I was immediately drawn to this piece. I love the little chat bubble illustration, it’s overall very pleasing to look at.

This self portrait done from a side profile is full of warm colours and soft tones. Nothing in this digital painting looks rough, crazy or dark. It reminds me of autumn from the artist wearing a turtleneck sweater and the backdrop being a bright orange light. It could be the sundown after an autumn day. The strands of hair popping up from the top of her hair lightens up from that backdrop of light which adds some realism. Its an amazing mix of realism and animation art.

This self portrait is a sketch of the artist’s face leaning to the side. The colour palette for this piece is very minimal but doesn’t need much more colour to make it appealing to the eye. The few strands of hair parted from her hair adds some nice detail, as well as the movement in her fingers. I think the art looks cute and simple, it is something i’d love to have up on my wall.

This self portrait was done digitally by a young artist. The art appeals to me because of the sharp and soft colours. The textures are soft and warm, making the piece look smooth and simple. The focal point can be found in her bottom eye, filled in with different colours and enriched with sparks of light to make it seem like shes in the middle of the galaxy, the backdrop of the art also illustrates that. The sharp colours of orange make it look like her face is lit up by the bright shine of the sun up close. This piece makes me think a lot about adventure and creativity.

This self portrait illustrated by a Ukrainian artist peaked my interest because of the different shapes, colours and shades. The focal point is the head of the artist, but your eye is guided along to the top of the page to look at the different colours and shapes of the flowers above. When looking at the rest of the work, you can see the different shapes and detail of the artist’s clothing.

"Everyone thinks these are self-portraits but they aren't meant to be. I just use myself as a model because I know I can push myself to extremes, make each shot as ugly or goofy or silly as possible."

This portrait stood out to me because of the vintage quality and the vintage aesthetic overall. The camera being used is flipped into portrait, and being taken like people take self portraits of themselves in the mirrors with their phones today. The position she is in against the wall just looks soft and warm and pleasant to look at.

This piece was created in Samsung notes, which I wouldn’t have guessed at first glance. It looks like it was done in Illustrator, its very simple and pleasing to look at with the simple colour palette. Very cute and soft looking.
