“Ain’t easy out there trynna make it in anythin’. Just keep at it and don’t give up, be persistent. No one ever got anywhere givin’ up. Ya yes is gonna come.” he replied, hoping that his words encouraged him even just a little bit. “I’d love to help. Ain’t really got much else to do today. Was just gonna spend the day at the park, hang out with the ducks and play some tunes.”

Newt had been in the city for a few months now settling back in, having been traveling for a good couple of years now. He was working on a book about animals all around the world though, that wasn’t an easy thing to get published when there were bigger name authors, and no one wanted to publish his own.

For now he helped the local zoo, having been a zoologist before hand and they seemed happy for his help- animals relaxed a bit more around him, like he had a natural affinity for them. He was at a local coffee shop getting a quick drink and taking time to relax- the zoo had him on call as a female lioness was due to give birth, and he didn’t want to miss the moment

“Tomorrow? That’s perfect. Next Thursday sounds good too. Can make it for both if ya let me.” he replied with a little grin then took a seat at the bar, looking back at her once he did. “Be doin’ music. Singin’. How much time ya get?”

Jacob had left the office kind of late but still hoped to get a drink and find a place to perform his new songs. He saw one place still open at this hour and walked inside before heading to his car. He lightly chuckled at her reaction to him there but felt so bad for freaking her out. 

“Ya alright, babe?” he asked, “Didn’t mean to scare ya. Was just out lookin’ to get a drink ‘fore I head home and maybe set up a gig. Ya got open-mic or somethin’ I can sign up for?”

        Ave waved him off, a bit embarrassed that she was startled so easily. “I’m fine, I’m fine.” She laughed. She was about to ask if she could make a drink for him, but then he inquired about an open mic. “Oh yeah, we have a slot open for tomorrow night if you can make it. If not, next Thursday evening is entirely open.” As she spoke she pulled out a clipboard from underneath the bar with the open slots and pushed it towards him. 

        “Jokes? Music? Uh, something else?” One night they had a juggler for 25 minutes straight. While impressive for the first five minutes, it eventually became extremely boring.
