But the rest of his words seemed to die on Clover's ears, mute in the night as he watched the breath fog before them. Fingers curled away a little as he lowered his hand, and something in his chest shrank back just as much. He hadn’t wanted to assume. He hated to. And Qrow had come right out and said just as much.   Of... of course the man had someone waiting for him.   He didn't know why he'd gotten his hopes up from the start...

The soft breath of a laugh fell from him before he could stop it. “No I... really should just head back before they stop services for the night,” the brunet told him. Those red eyes only stared back at him, almost a little too intensely, and Clover attempted not to feel too unnerved by it. “I appreciate it, honestly,” he continued, “but I do have to get home without getting stabbed, and maybe also without falling asleep at my desk tomorrow.”

fair game week 2025 day 1 - [lost/found]

after salem is defeated, remnant undergoes a hard reset. qrow finds out what that means walking down the street on a random tuesday.

Those very same words coming from the brunet could only cause something in his stomach to stir about like a nest of butterflies disturbed; taking flight erratically and wanting only to escape from sight.

There... was a weight to those words that seemed almost hard to endure.

Certainly not unwanted, but gods... did they burn at him all the same.

He resisted the urge to bite the inside of his cheek. Focus only on what was before you, his mind chided softly, and his own ghost of a smile came into life. Something practised; the healer returning to his patient once more. A physician scrutinising all that lay before him as the pieces lined up within his hands.

Focus.

His own notions on such weighty words could come later.

I haven't had the motivation or time to write anything in a long time, even though I really REALLY miss writing FG stuff. And it feels wrong to not post anything at all for Fairgame week, since I've always had something for at least one day. So here's at least a little preview of Chapter 3 of Loving (Omni Pov), which I had the far flung hope of having ready for the Protective Partner prompt for day 5.

So... a tiny bit of new stuff, and I'll link to the rest of Love is Being Scared, and Loving Anyway because I still really want to finish this fic it is just so much work and the dopamine died on it and has been really hard to get back (so comments are super appreciated, if people still want to see this finished, cause it helps so much with motivation)

I hate not having more for this week, because I still love this community and pairing so so much. But I still plan on catching up on both reading and writing and getting that spark back that this community brought out in me and that I am so incredibly grateful for and proud to have been and continue to be a part of.

Fair Game Week 2025 Day 7 - Unlucky | Firsts | Free

“Anyway,” Yang says as mirth runs its course. “Think I’ve had enough excitement for today.”

A little deflated, and probably still exhausted from yesterday, Clover imagines. “How’s your head?” he asks.

Marrow echoes the sentiment, wincing at the thought that laughing so hard might not have been the gentlest thing for her at the moment.

She scoffs at concerned glances, pointedly looking at Clover. “It’s fine. But hey, say hi to my uncle for me. Or better yet, tell him how you tried to make me feel bad for ruining your date with my concussion.”

Clover lets out a mock sigh, accepting the jab. Deserved. But well, since she’s okay and all. He reaches up to tousle blond hair. Earning an offended, if not also entirely shocked, look as Yang shoves at him. Unable to hide a quirk of lips despite her protests. Clover grins in return.

“I’ll tell him you’re superstitious about our relationship being dangerous for your health.”

Qrow gave a gentle chuckle at the whipsharp response, and a thumb brushed the rim of his mug in idle movement, enjoying the coy little exchange. It really was one of the things he enjoyed about Clover's company, after all.

One of the many, he was starting to realise.

“I suppose you're right about another thing, too.” A quieter addition, something that couldn't help but snare the attention of the brunet and tug those green eyes back to him. It was something Qrow was very good at, he was learning; little tells and motions that drew him in like he was learning a secret language.

Alright, now he was definitely being a sap.

Those lips parted, words turning to ash for a heartbeat of time, and Clover felt his own breath catch with it.

“I... could grow to like this kind of thing.”
