I think Simon might be addicted to the crown. Idk if that really makes sense but in all the flashbacks of him and Marcy, every time he thinks he needs the crown he really doesn't except for like 1 or 2 times. But like the time with the deer? He didn't need it. And every single time marcy begs him not to use it the way a child begs their parent not to drink or smoke because it's scary every time he uses it.

I think him "needing to become ice king" is really just him going back into old comfortable habits. He's "sober" from the crown but sobriety isn't comfortable. He knows ice king can't remember his own name let alone that he used to be engaged and he wants to use the crown to forget.

Anyway idk if this made any sense since it's 2:30 am and I have work in the morning. Also how would he get the crown back when it merged with Gunther to turn into the ice thing? Not even all the jewels are still there
