One of the talents I've discovered in myself is the ability to plan a party. I don't do it very often! It's really only worth it for family, or occasionally for coworkers I like very much. But I'm sincerely good at it, and while I'm always pleased to be Good At Things, I also vaguely resent that it couldn't be something cooler. "She has a knack for throwing knives/taming rabid weasels/pole vaulting/etc." seems like something you could casually introduce into conversation to elicit the admiration and envy of your peers; "oh, that plump eldest daughter is good with food and bossing people around" is just expected.

I keep thinking about this moment.

After slamming into the ground, Dark hops up right away while Chosen takes a moment longer. Dark flexes enthusiastically. He's feelin' good.

Chosen begins dusting his hands off. This is classic cartoon body-language for when a character believes their work to be finished.

The moment Chosen's hands meet, Dark is looking over.

As Chosen continues dusting off his hands, what does Dark do?

His arms fall slightly from their self-celebratory pose, and he looks up and off to the side with intent.

He seems to find what he was looking for in the next instant, and takes off towards it with surprisingly little fanfare.

Chosen makes to follow. He's not opposed to continuing, even if he'd thought they might stop now.

(Also look at him. Look at him clenching his little fists in the second image. Why is your motion bigger than Dark's you silly.)

tl;dr Dark's response to Chosen maybe thinking they were done destroying stuff was to immediately find something else for them to go and destroy together.

I think a lot of the hatred towards therians and furries comes from ableism. The same goes with how people treat any other “cringe” interests because society will always use disabled people for emotional gratification. Whether that be using us as inspiration porn or mocking us for entertainment.

A lot of therians tend to be neurodivergent, lots of therians are therians because of neurodivergence and trauma. Expressing nonhumanity is a way of coping for so many people. From childhood I’ve always been someone who communicates through animalistic body language and sounds, it’s how I interact with my environment and how I regulate myself. Before I could communicate properly and when I struggle with communication now it’s how I establish boundaries and show love or discomfort.

I’ve always felt this way, being autistic means I think differently, I feel differently, I frame myself and the world in an entirely new lens. When you know this then you know that it is entirely possible for someone to have the mind of a nonhuman entity.

Neurodivergence is not the only reason for nonhumanity, but it is a large part of it for a lot of people. Often times anti therians will have no good reason for hating therians besides “ew it’s weird” or “they’re crazy theres something wrong with them” which is both deeply rooted in ableist views.

When people dismiss therianthropy as “just kids doing things” it reminds me a lot of how the identities of autistic people are seen as insignificant or childish, something that we are expected to grow out of.

This rant is a little disorganised, but I’m thinking of writing a proper explanation and description of this at another time.
