Happy (seven months late) Pacific Rim Day?
WIP sketch of my fan Jaeger - Juno Thunder - a Mark 2 for Canada.
Here's a post for the decals/insignias I designed for her a few years back.
Been a long time poking at the writing, and some other drawings for this. Only recently started working on Juno's design beyond an old sketch. Really, really wanted the whole project done for today, but it just did not work out. I have some other work to shift gears to, but I'll get back to this later.

Absolutely agree. Just a few more lines for both teams - or even just like a small section of them kicking-ass in the intro sequence would have done a lot.
Rewatching Pacific Rim rn and I still can't get over how criminally underused both Cherno Alpha and Crimson Typhoon were
Like both of them were so cool and we saw them in action for literally a minute before being killed off
Its such a shame they weren't used to their full potential like cmon Crimson had three arms amd Cherno is a tank
And their pilots were interesting I wanted to know more about them
I get why as they were like minor characters and the plot had to move along but still I wanted to see them wreck kaiju butt lol
At least we got to see them in action despite how very little time they had

This is great stuff. I still occasionally watch that intro just for it's own sake. Some really good worldbuilding in Pacific Rim.

Some nice pics from the Mirada site for the development of the intro sequence. Mostly posting because I recognize the Hallgrímskirkja and I see they’ve replaced Leif with a kaiju….

Damnit! Like seven months late on this.
I knew this was Pacific Rim Year, but I never thought of actually looking up when it happens in 2025. August 15th has always been "Pacific Rim Day" for me, so August 15th 2025 was what I was waiting for.
Either way, I'm glad this fandom still remembers it enough to do something like this, twelve years later.
Happy New Year!!!
There are now officially only 12 days left to enjoy "Pacific Rim" as a movie portraying "futuristic events"!!!
Important dates to add to your calendar!!!
Between January 1 and January 8, 2025:
Striker Eureka is decommissioned from active combat.
Category IV Kaiju, Mutavore, breaks through Anti-Kaiju Wall and is killed by Striker Eureka, thus proving the Anti-Kaiju Wall ineffective.
Stacker Pentecost recruits Raleigh Becket for breach assault.
Raleigh Becket arrives at the Hong Kong Shatterdome.
Pilot tryouts with Raleigh Becket begin proper.
Raleigh and Mako nearly destroy the Shatterdome during their first attempt at drifting together in Gipsy Danger, prompting Stacker Pentecost to ground her, and inform Raleigh that he would be paired with another co-pilot.
January 8, 2025:
Double Event.
Newton Geiszler drifts with a Kaiju brain.
Category IV Kaijus, Leatherback and Otachi, emerge from the breach and attack Hong Kong.
Crimson Typhoon, Cherno Alpha, and Striker Eureka are deployed.
Crimson Typhoon is destroyed and the Wei Tang brothers are killed by Otachi.
Cherno Alpha is destroyed and the Kaidanovskys are killed by Leatherback.
Striker Eureka is incapacitated by Leatherback's EMP, and Herc Hansen's arm is broken.
Since Gipsy Danger is analog and the only Jaeger able to withstand the EMP (don't ask! I didn't quite get that part!), Stacker finally agrees to let Raleigh Becket and Mako Mori co-pilot her in the field.
Stranded with an unresponsive Jaeger, Herc and Chuck Hansen decide they should do something really, really stupid climb on the top of the head of Striker Eureka and shoot at it with flare guns. For the record that was Herc's dumbass idea!
To absolutely no one's surprise, the flare guns do absolutely no damage to the Kaiju whatsoever, and they only manage to piss Leatherback off but still look badass doing it!
Gipsy Danger is deployed and saves Herc and Chuck Hansen 's sorry asses.
Chuck Hansen is revealed as a secret Gipsy Danger fanboy.
Leatherback and Otachi are killed by Gipsy Danger.
Otachi's baby Kaiju is born and dies via strangulation by umbilical cord during pursuit of Newton Geiszler.
January 12, 2025:
Triple Event.
Category IV Kaiju, Scunner and Raiju emerge from the Breach.
Since Herc Hansen is unable to co-pilot Striker Eureka with his son, Stacker Pentecost decides to take his place in the conn-pod.
Stacker Pentecost launches "Operation Pitfall", an assault involving Gipsy Danger and Striker Eureka on the Breach.
Category 5 Kaiju, Slattern, emerges from the Breach.
Raiju is killed by Gipsy Danger.
Striker Eureka self detonates thermonuclear bomb near the Breach, killing Scunner and a bunch of fishes and badly wounding Slattern.
Slattern is killed by Gipsy Danger.
Gipsy Danger uses Slattern's dead body as a "bar code" to grant them access to the Anteverse through the Breach.
Raleigh Becket sends Mako Mori to safety in her escape pod after she loses consciousness upon entering the Anteverse.
Raleigh Becket arms Gipsy's nuclear reactor to self-destruct, destroys the Breach, and narrowly manages to escape the Anteverse through his own escape pod before the Breach collapses.
Herc Hansen stops the War Clock!
#reblog#Pacific Rim#neverreallythoughtaboutthefuture#gif set#fandom#GOD DAMNIT#was waiting for like a deluge of Pacific Rim stuff today#god damn#I'll still post my thing#and finish the rest of it some other time#since I fuckin fumbled this golden opportunity harder#than I thought I had#which is a lot

Month of Mecha 2025: Final Update!
Tried to have consistent and repeated design elements, to make them all feel cohesive. I think the Vigilant and Venator - the first and second mechs - were the most successful.
Only four mechs this year, which is not what I'd normally like, but I chose to compromise instead of letting this drag on. There will be other Months of Mecha, after all.

Month of Mecha 2025: Mech #4.
Cannons roaring defiantly , the closest Vehement-class strider of the battlegroup holds it's ground, buying the civilian evacuation a few more moments as the city falls around them.
This took waaaaaaaaaaaay longer than I meant to.

Month of Mecha 2018: Mech #10.
WHETHER IT’S IMPOSSIBLE OR LAUGHABLE, GREAT MEN OPEN PATHS OF BATTLE!
It’s a Super Robot - complete with requisite called out drill attack! Really ought to give it a name. Some cool ass name - for it and any SPECTACTULAR SPECIAL ATTACKS it might have up its sleeve!
First time in a while since I’ve drawn this sort of body type for a mech. Was a lot harder than I expected, trying to figure out an aesthetic and making it not just a primary-colored Gundam look-a-like. Now that I look at it, I probably should have done some extra stuff to make it look more dynamic and the drills look spin-ier.

Month of Mecha 2022: Mech #8!
The last one. Flying biggy big booster mech. Had that first sketch lying around for a few years - so it was nice to actually finally do it. Real happy with the head and front half.

Month of Mecha 2019: Mech #1.
The first official mech of the season. Not bad, but a little longer than I meant to take - but a fraction of the time I spent on last year’s first mech. Like the colors and the pose - and the running blade leggies.

Wednesday Update (ahhhhhhhhem).
Mech #17.
Tried a few different things, and they worked out for the most part. Paid off? Whatever. It’s almost 4am. Nice bits, bleh bits. Glad I got to sorta cheat with the shading and use the purple from the pallet for said shading, which I think makes it really pop. Sorta gave up on those knee joints, and that one elbow joint, and that one hand. Yeah, precision and clean lines are things I really ought to improve at.
But the shapes and volumes seem right-ish to me, and the design overall is novel and a step away from the norm for me, although I think a different pose woulda been nice.
