Some days it’s agony…
I wake up breathless—like you stole my lungs, my air.
You decided to pretend like I’m nothing.
I don’t exist—less than dust, less than the air that you stole from me.
According to you, I’m nothing.
I often wonder if you miss “nothing”…
Is that possible?
To miss something that you no longer acknowledge as a being?
Do you ever, just for a split second, feel the air escaping from you too? Do you ever find that you care?
Do you ever let a trace of me come to the surface?—a spec of dust, a hint of my breath…
Do you miss me?

I saw a quote that talked about seeking happiness for all, even more than for yourself...
I think the idea is lovely.
At its core, that would be amazing if we all cared about other’s happiness and well-being.
And I’m not saying not to, caring is key to life and humanity...
But as you get older and you go through life and people continuously let you down and filter through your life, you realize that you’re mainly who you have. And while you shouldn’t let bitterness consume you and keep you from loving and caring about others, you still have to learn to value your own happiness.
Because...
Throughout your whole life, overall, you have yourself.
Because of this, you need to learn to love and comfort that body that carries you through every part of this life. Try not to put others above yourself, or sacrifice your happiness. Because if everyone else went away you’d have to face yourself and be at peace with yourself.
So love everyone, make them happy, and care, but don’t do it at the expense of your own happiness and well-being.
Love yourself, care about yourself, make yourself happy, and then share that good feeling with others when you can.
