Real answer is that he does not have Free Time. He fills everything with some kind of work to the point that personal life and work bleed into each other with no end in sight, and that's how he wants it. But... he does get free time I suppose because he has to hang out with Sharp at some point, doesn't he? Another reason why Sharp is so good for him, since he's from a different world, he has to leave his own and therefore is forced away from his work for a while. But more commonly Sharp visits him.

If, for any reason he has empty time, he tries to fill it anyway. Otherwise he's left with his own thoughts.

You captured him in his most important aspect, the skeleton who smiles and keeps standing despite the hardships in his life. Someone must keep a cheerful face to keep the spirits of the town up. One can only wonder if he's as happy and free of troubles on the inside as he wants others to believe... (but isn't it more convenient for everyone if his issues remain buried? :) )

the au is @gemknightau and it is made by @fluo-skeletons and i used this picture from the blog as a reference...

i drew this cus i recently saw this post about making a gem knight papyrus so i wanted to make a gem knight version of belowdeal papyrus and bevan but i realized i never drew the classic gem knight papyrus so i did this pretty fast i think...

i will be making a gem knight version of belowdeal papyrus and bevan now...

If one where to make a Papyrus variant from the gemknight au, what factors are important to keep in mind to make one properly??

You can do what you want forever! However, here are some general rules I like to follow: -in his late 20s -soul is a gem (this is true to all monsters in the au) -a second gem is worn which helps in making magic bullets (also true for all monsters in the au) -over 7 feet tall/over 210 cm tall

Much like any character, he is shaped by his environment. I like to give them general Papyrus traits,but also keep in mind how their circumstances affect that. A fun one is to put a metaphorical wall between him and others- difficulty communicating his needs. Take Amber for example, talks a lot, is exremely active, but is so good at hiding his baggage that at worst he'd come across as shallow, and he convinces himself of this too, because facing his own needs would be worse. Like somehow this guy never talks about himself in depth but it looks normal to people around him because he's cheerful about it. Or take Sharp, who has difficulty really trusting people around him due to the nature of his world, but oh how badly he wants to trust someone. And he believes that he can, because even if that's a foolish hope, isn't it worse to have no hope at all?

Or in other words, give him some reason to have a metaphorical mask. What is he under that? Does he even know, or does he hide it from himself too, ,because that way the mask will be more convincing?

So I guess my advice is to take Papyrus (the coolest, the original), then give it some thought, how you think he would be shaped by a gemknight environment. (base gk is that monsters are within a dome-like barrier out at sea on some islands, sometimes humans attack, so they have to have some way to defend, and that monster souls are gems) I hope this was helpful! And if you make a gk papyrus, I would very much like to see! This is absolutely up to you, but I am curious.

I wanted to talk about this

So, the Barrier is made of a magical storm, it's like a big dome that encapsulates both islands and a bit of the sea surrounding them. This causes constant winds and frequent strong weathers on the islands, but at the barrier itself, the storm is life-threateningly dangerous and causes the sea to rage. Since the monsters aren't sealed underground, humans don't fall down to them. Humans who end up on the island by misfortune are shipwrecked and if they're lucky, they are washed ashore by the currents.

However, some humans come on purpose, and they come prepared. They know there are untold riches inside that strange, unending storm out at sea. They come prepared with some way to freeze the magical storm so they can pass safely- and raid the monsters to harvest gems from them.

Monsters have come to fear the sudden stillness. If the clouds above stop raging, then it means another human attack. Sometimes this happens multiple times a year, sometimes years pass without any raids. But every monster knows to keep an eye on the clouds.

In this scene however, it is obviously not humans. the king's advisor and royal scientist, Gaster has recently messed with the fabric of reality and promptly escaped through the opening he made. It will take monsterkind a few days to realise he's abandoned them, because they're busy with whatever crawled into their world through the doorway that Gaster left wide open.

Sans is being difficult on purpose, but he does have his reasons for wanting to join one of the most dangerous jobs. Not that it's anyone's business of course. he recently received his golden headband, which is what adults wear (instead of a cloth headband).

Amber on the other hand has been a knight for years and as a result has seen- and been a participant in- the horrors of battle. Nothing he'd wish upon anyone else.

A new problem arises. Takes place after the events of this comic. Monsterkind's safety has been uncertain for a long time now, with humans invading the island to steal gemstones. The very fabric of this world has been torn open, allowing anything from beyond the au to pour in. A rift, if you will.

Those memorials would hold the gemstones of the former queen and king, but along with their lives, their gemstones were taken as well in an incident that happened years ago.
