「紫宸殿の鬼退治」は、オリジナルオラクルカードの『源平の時代御神籤』において2枚目のカードとなります。

タロットカードで言えば「魔術師」のイメージを持っていますが、解釈は少し変わり「始める時に、他からの指示を待たない」、「飛び込まなければ始まらない」というような意味を持たせました。

このカードイラストのモチーフは、武士として初めて太政大臣の位に登り詰めた「平清盛」が、14歳の時にしたという『鬼退治』になります。

父親が不在の時に公卿たちに言いつけられて、自分で決めて行わねばならなかった状況でした。失敗はもちろん許されません。

そのような中で清盛は豪胆にこれを成し遂げ、人々を驚かせたそうです。

"The Demon Extermination at the Shishinden" is the second card in the original oracle deck "Genpei Era Oracle Cards."

While it carries the imagery of "The Magician" in tarot cards, its interpretation varies slightly. It conveys meanings such as "not waiting for instructions from others when starting something" or "it won't begin unless you dive in."

The motif of this card's illustration is based on the "Demon Extermination" performed by "Taira no Kiyomori," who rose to the position of Daijō-daijin (Grand Minister) for the first time as a warrior at the age of 14.

In the absence of his father, he was instructed by the court nobles to carry out the task himself, with no room for failure.

In such circumstances, Kiyomori boldly accomplished the task and astonished the people.

「源平の時代」というものをご存知でしょうか？

日本が古代から中世に移り変わろうという頃、日本中を巻き込む大きな騒乱がありました。

それは貴族から武士に政治の力が移っていく時代でもありました。

当初、貴族に代わって権力を握っていたのは「平家」と言われる一門で、武士の出身でありながら貴族のように暮らし、思うままに振る舞っていました。

それに対して反感を持った勢力が「源氏」と結びつき、源氏が平家に反旗を翻していくことになります。

こうして平家と源氏は戦うことになり源氏が勝利するのですが、この時敗者の平家一門が見事な潔い散りようを見せたので、後年「武士の最期はかくあるべし」と美談化されていきます。

私の作った「源平の時代御神籤」はその一連の出来事や人物たちを題材としており、最初のカードは「若き清盛のイメージ」です。

この御神籤は全部で52枚あり、不定期ですがそれぞれをご紹介できたら良いなと思っています。

Do you know about the "Genpei" period?

During the transition from ancient to medieval times in Japan, there was a major upheaval that engulfed the entire country.

It was also an era when political power shifted from the aristocracy to the warrior class.

Initially, the ones wielding power in place of the aristocracy were a clan known as the "Taira," who, despite being of warrior origin, lived like aristocrats and behaved as they pleased.

In opposition to this, forces discontented with the Taira allied themselves with the "Minamoto" clan, which eventually led to the Minamoto turning their banners against the Taira.

Thus, the Taira and the Minamoto came to battle, with the Minamoto emerging victorious. However, the defeated Taira clan demonstrated a remarkably honorable end, leading to its later romanticization as "This is how a warrior's end should be."

The "Oracle Cards of the Genpei Era" I created are based on this series of events and characters, with the first card depicting "the Image of a Young Kiyomori."

There are a total of 52 cards in this oracle, and although it's irregular, I hope to introduce each one as time allows.
