Industrial Modernisn
"Let me learn only everything that others cannot teach me, that which only life would be capable of making deeply in my skin" -S.Dali written on back of this bookmark.
A famous yet mad artist brought aspects of nature, religion and time through his own persona.
Parts of his work theorize history and different parts of the world.
On this bookmark, a scene taken from the Reneissanse has become modernised by a painter ahead of his time.

Orient-Renaissance-Neoclassic
Starting in Rome roughly, Rome created a worldly aspect To their design. By incorporating beauty of different ethnicities, a reign of power and peace became suitable across Europe.
During this time of rebirth, things were made to last. Each elaborate design showed much decoration relating to social class and economic wealth. This common style of swirls and vines borrowed nature and leaves symbolizing politics/religion.
The revolution of style here has built it’s architectural solidity at the point of Empire. Things were less embellished but strong and prominent-promoting stability. (Late 1700s)

When thinking about culture, we relate to our roots and ancestry. Aesthetically, I am drawn to a very earthy and urban setting. The freedom of space is so creative and powerful, with cultural statements of identity for boundaries- we limited the clutter. By the desert sun I incorporate south of the border flair with Sahara. Both unique areas of the world, combined with my own idea of space. Emphesising religion, balance, harmony and a neutral color palette I find precision in space. Elimating the chaos and burdons of weight, I can take my idea of cultural design and share/ collab a design we can all use.

This is a photo taken from an oriental hutch. Also on the hutch are geishas dancing, gardens and small people.
Now, these images are told to be hand painted on wood with Abeloney shells for detail. Each eye catching design may change in brightness, shine or story depending on the area your eye catches first.
These oriental furniture pieces were popular in the 90′s because of it’s detailed line work, depth and contrast. Having a black background absorbs the color in a lighter room, one with a lot of windows.
While creating these designs, the artist must have known how to write an oriental alphabet. The drawings, similar to how characters are written create a scene as if you brung a small part of the orient to your living room.
Transitioning from scene to scene you see blank space in between, a patterned border and corners-for this hutch is rectangular shaped. The space simplified the elaborate design creating balance and harmony.
If i were drawing these photos freehandedly, I would not know how to add he embellished shells for detail. In graphic design I would be able to add layers, blend colors, add shine and appeal with photoshop.

This stand up lamp has a great design going on. It reminds me of the Pixar lamp but taller, bigger and more real life. It almost looks like it wold be made for a workshop where you need really strong lighting and had an adjustable head to pan out areas. What is especially great is the click button on the floor to turn it on.. you just need to step on it, hands free and no bending! It could definitely make a statement in a blank room because lighting is all you need to see. I would consider it a contemporary essential for any office or home space.

This is my G-Shock water-proof watch. As you can see there has been a lot of wear and tear. There is a slight rip on the rubber ring over the strap and unfortunately when that falls off or rips I can no longer wear it anymore. I had this for almost 10 years and there is a lifetime warranty I can look into, but the watch is going to be considered useless because it won’t lock on my wrist properly.
