Infinite

If the universe and time is truly infinite then everything has already happened before, and will happen again. In this exact moment in time every molecule in the universe is in one position and it can be assumed that this configuration of molecules will never happen again, the universe is so big and random, from the exact position you are sitting in now, to to location of a bird in the sky or even the gentle wind blowing a grain of dust on a distant undiscovered planet.

Surely with enough time this configuration of molecules will happen again? They say if you give a monkey a typewriter and infinite time he would eventually write the complete works of William Shakespeare. And not only will one ‘configuration’ happen again but also this sequence of ‘configurations’. ‘You’ will have sat here reading this post exactly as you are now so long ago that it is beyond our comprehension the distance in time, and ‘you’ will also do it again in the future. This sequence of time will repeat over and over. Not only will this time repeat identically, but also with variance, every decision you have made, you have also made a different decision, each of these repeating over and over for eternity. 

They say you can’t make something out of nothing where did all the matter in the universe come from? If you can’t make it out of nothing then it has always been there. How much matter is there? Is that infinite too? Is it possible to travel so far out in space that you will never come across another atom again? An infinite vacuum?. If energy is infinite then so is matter, and so is the universe, so this exact configuration of atoms we are capable of observing is also somewhere else out in the universe, and it is out there infinite times, and with all it’s variations. 

So right now ‘you’ are reading this, ‘you’ are also watching netflix, flying a plane and winning a marathon? Perhaps all at the same time?  Infinity means that everything that can happen, will happen and has happened and is happening and will always happen. And what are the chances that what is happening in the whole of infinite time and space will repeat? If it had a number it would be Infinity to the power of infinity.
