Puppet stand
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I twisted a wire and glued it to a round lid and covered it with black foam clay to add more wait to it so it wouldn't fall and I could adjust it the way that I wanted to

Horanewa
Tumblr media
I modeled the horanewa with foam clay and then once it dried I wrapped red felt around it to make it look like the one I drew . I later pocked holes to make it more realistic

Magpie tail Feathers
Tumblr media
Tumblr media Tumblr media
for the magpie tail, i glued blue, black and white feathers and layered them to make it look like the tail I had drawn for my character in 2D. I then attached it to the body with more glue and covered up the patch with another small feather

Attaching Accesories
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I assembled all the extra accessories I need to add together to give the puppet it's final look. for the bangles I used a thick gold thread that would look like the gold bangle I drew.
I added the beeralu lace as well, I bunched it up and glued it to the body and wrapped another accessory around

Puff Sleeves
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had trouble trying to figure out the puff sleeves since I had done the chest and arms separately, but after I thought about it, I realised I could puff it up with a circular piece of cloth and then paste it on to the sleeves. It did not give the sleeve as big of a puff that I wanted but I liked how it looked so It was fine

Change in facial features

I inked the face with a white gel pen because it couldn'r be seen with black since their skin is so dark.

Hair bangs
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When i was framing the fringe and bangs i tied up the rest of the hair so it wouldn't get caught. after I was done cutting the bangs, I shaped it and pasted it on the head with the glue gun. For the back part of her bob, I glued it down to her braid to add more thickness to her hair

Hair process
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
doing the braid the second time around was much faster because I knew what mistakes i needed to avoid making. one issue I had was making the braid too thick, and I fixed that by layering the section of the braid that was going to be pasted on the head so it wouldn't feel that thick.
I added gold ribbon around the sections of the braid because I thought it would add a bit of contrast to the red and blue and make the hair stand out.
I followed a TikTok tutorial on how to make the bob for Nili,. i stabbed my table with 2 pins and wrapped a piece of yarn and then weaved shorter strands into it, and once I was done, i cut it up into tiny pieces so that I could glue it onto the hair in layers

Painting the Body
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I had to papermache the body twice because the first time I did it, there wasn't enough glue in the mixture so I had to add more so it wouldn't flake off the body . After I papermached the body I mixed blue and white paint together to create a similar blue to the character sheet of Nili. I painted the felt of the wings that colour as well so it would match the body and not look weird.
After I assembled the wings I glued them to the posticle sticks and doubled checked to make sure the mechanic still works and it did

Painting the face and hands
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I decided to paint the face over the clay instead of paper macheing it and then painting with it because more time is saved that way.
To make it easier for me to paint these tiny object I stuck them on to a toothpick and then into a sponge so I would not have to touch them while painting it
For the feather fluff I used foam clay and then painted over it with different shades of blue so it would be more accurate to my illustration.

Accesories
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
For the accessories I decided to cut them out in felt because I love the way it looked and it was a very easy material to work with. If I could I would have made the entire puppet out of it if possible.
I also used felt for the wings because the fuzziness helps it give a more bird like look to the puppet.
