Have you heard of surgerymoon? Me neither. I made it up. 😅 But I did book a trip to Turks & Caicos less than a week before arriving because I knew I would be stuck at home post surgery. & I'm so glad I did! Turks & Caicos is definitely a place I can visit 1,000 times & not get tired of it. Last year, I couldn't believe I was 33. Not because I'm older but because I was told I wouldn't make it as a baby. I fought hard & strong & proved them wrong. Little did I know I was in for a surprise. At 33, I found out I needed another open heart surgery... 4 years after my 2nd one. I was shocked. Confused. & in disbelief. But it had to be done. 3rd one & hopefully the last one. 6 months postop & here I am! Back to work, back to traveling, back to being better than ever. Thankful to all my friends, family, & coworkers who reached out to me. Recovering during the pandemic was tough but they all made me feel loved even from a distance. Also I am grateful for my husband who became my nurse after surgery... feeding me, giving me my medications, comforting me, updating my friends & family, & even taking my vital signs. This post is just a reminder to check up on your friends & family. A simple text like "How are you?" makes a big difference. Take care everyone! [Random] If you asked me where I imagined myself going on our honeymoon, I had no clue. As cheesy as it sounds, I feel like I'm always on a honeymoon when I'm on vacation with Eric... even before we got married. And if you know me, you know how much I love city, island, or country hopping. Staying on a beach was stressful for me because I don't know how to stay in one place. My idea of relaxing is moving from one place to another. But that changed since I went to Maldives! Our resort had many things to do like golf, tennis, kayak, bike, swim, unlimited food & drinks, snorkeling etc so I wasn't going too crazy. Haha. But strangely my favorite part of the trip was watching the animals on the island... fruit bats, nurse sharks, stingrays, fishes, etc. Special thanks to @qatarairways for gifting flight tickets to healthcare workers in 2020 & for my friends who convinced us we were crazy if we didn't go. 😅😘😜 https://www.instagram.com/p/CeroIJouori/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

[Random] When the pandemic hit, I felt useless. The Operating Room is all I know & love & our hospital had to shut down our floor for some time to keep everyone safe. I wanted to help but I didn't know how. Yes, we did get floated to a temporary ICU to help take care of the sickest covid patients. & yes, we were scared to bring back the worst germs to our families & friends like everyone else. & yes, we were exhausted, not only from lack of sleep & not seeing the people we love but also from all the unknown answers. Taking care of covid patients was tough but I was always hopeful that they would see their families again. And even doing that, I still felt useless. I wanted to do something more. & then I realize how during this really hard time, it's not just taking care of the sick but also watching out for each other. That was why I started asking donations from a lot of generous & kind people. I saw the fear, the struggle, & the hopelessness in my coworkers', friends, & families' faces. I knew that they deserve more than a tap on the back. I wanted to give them hope & a smile even if it was for a second. I thought they should know there are people who are standing by us through it all & that we are not alone. I want them to keep fighting & power through it all because life is more precious than we realize. Sorry for the long message but I just wanted everyone to know that I am here for you if you ever need someone to talk to. & to everyone who was there for me when I needed a shoulder, thank you. Also, special thanks to all the companies who supported us & donated many gifts to the Perioperative department. Thanks to my friends & families who gave the extras to their hospitals. Thanks to @jesschan01 for helping me give the stuff to PACU, @lalokyzuly to Anesthesia, & @mistereyang to Endoscopy suite.
