I have the craziest Days Gone theory that might’ve just worked

I think one of the most notable parts of Days Gone is how Deacon St. John never attacks first

Marauders and Ambushers? Deacon’s got hit by them before

Rippers? They got Boozer and Lisa

Skizzo? That motherfucker sold him and Boozer out

The Militia? They did so much

That’s such a fascinating line, especially when we learn later that Iron Mike was like Deacon

See the game establishes that Deacon fully believes in Sarah but, with the words he chose, not necessarily that he believes a cure is possible which is why I think him ending up infected would’ve been brilliant

I think Days Gone would’ve been a ‘The love was there, it didn’t change anything but the love was there.’ Type story

I think it’s fascinating how much compassion Deacon shows for the Freakers, like, yes he kills them with no mercy but it’s the way he talks about them - in the beginning of the game he shoos Newts away and in one of the NERO intel records they’re examining a (alive) Screamer and you hear them kill her and Deacon speaks so softly when he says he hopes she can rest easy (plus many storyline blurbs)

Thinking about the scene where Boozer’s in the infirmary and not getting any better and Addy tells Deacon to go home and he tries to walk towards Boozer
