Look. Listen. Pay attention. Be alert, attuned, patient. Heed your own senses; hone them, heighten them. Focus, engage the moment, be here now – and notice how anyway thoughts, memories, expectations, presumptions and self-distractions come teeming in.
LANDSCAPE SUICIDE (1987), dir. James Benning

Without revealing too much (as to not spread the location), here’s some more information on the history of this building:
(DISCLAIMER: Information on the history of the mansion after it was converted into the nursing home is hard to come by, and when I was able to find anything, dates were unclear and sources were widely uncited, so there is a good chance not all of the information I’m sharing is entirely accurate.)
I realize now that the caption of this post was very unclear and likely misleading as to just what this place was—I also think the architecture contributes in large part to these misconceptions. The building these two images were captured in was initially built as a mansion for a wealthy German family in the early 1900s. In the 1950s, after a few changes in ownership, the mansion became a nursing home/rehabilitative center that was eventually left to decompose some 20-odd years ago. Although specific information on renovations is hard to come by and I’m still in the dark on the exact purpose of this room, I believe it was initially constructed as a music room used to host parties and entertain guests. After the mansion was converted, I can only imagine it was repurposed as a recreation room for patients at the nursing home. As for the undeniable similarities of the architecture to something that may be found in a chapel, I’ve been unable to find any further information on if the room was ever used for religious worship.
I recognize and apologize for the hypocrisy in complaining about a lack of cited sources while also not citing any sources...BUT I would feel much more guilty about spreading the location of a place like this for it to be potentially more heavily guarded after an influx of visitors. It's a miracle that it isn't already.
However vague all this information is, I hope it interests you all as much as it interests me! :D
