christmas day 2017 robertmas vs twice upon a time. not even a competition. robertmas everything twice upon a time should’ve been. it’s such a moffat episode too. deeply embarrassing for moffat to be out-moffated by Emmerdale. on christmas
#aired concurrently#why couldn’t twelve’s last ep be a farcical internal torture chamber…..#yeah sure it would be kinda like heaven sent again but who care#instead it’s just mark gatiss standing in a field#like fuck you i’m watching robertmas

Also it was very on the nose, but I quite like the chess metaphor for this whole storyline. It fits really well. Aaron may be a king for Robert but he's just a pawn for John.

yeah john is manipulating aaron but what’s fun is that aaron is letting him. cause he just doesn’t give a shit. he doesn’t realise john is a psycho because he doesn’t give a shit. he doesn’t need john to be a person he doesn’t even really want him to be one he doesn’t care enough about him to pay any real attention to who he is or what he’s doing. john thinks he’s this incredible beguiling mastermind when really aaron could absolutely figure him out he just can’t be arsed. cause he doesn’t give a shit
#john is pushing aaron into a corner sure but aaron also half wants to be there#anyway#poor john#dumb whore#emmerdale#aaron dingle

because i adore you all and want to know everything about you. how did you first discover robron? what was the first scene/gif you saw of them? what was the scene that made you fall in love with them?
#don’t remember specifically but i got into them when danny miller was on im a celeb#and i loved him and he mentioned playing a gay character and i was like ok well i’m there now#i think the novelty just compelled me#like wow. this actually really compelling gay affair is on Emmerdale. the show filmed 20 mins from where i live#can’t remember what drew me into the love story i think i just recognised it was good#then having gotten Very into recently i’m like Oh this is Good good#actually. might be the robert talk about scared of being gay etc speech#i’ve been obsessed with that for years that’s always what i would come back to#like ok they’re Horrible to each other. this is the best thing in the world

you ever think about how grief is just love with nowhere to go and how aaron’s grief on losing robert was so encompassing that he had no choice but to bury it lest all that love for robert would destroy him and everyone around him. and now think about how much of that grief is just bubbling under the surface now oh so suddenly that love has somewhere to go again. danny miller is going to kill us

maybe the most miserable thing about roberts return is that hes basically completely back to square one. he's got out of prison and it's not even that he's lost the last 6 years, it's like he's lost the last 25. he's got no job, no partner, no car, everyone hates him, he's at war with his brother (and it's not even the brother he gives a shit about), and now he's even back working on the farm he worked so hard to escape. he had more to live for when he got exiled from the village, at least then he had a CAR.

Everyone’s too nice to kids, Robert’s always known this. Per the at least 4 children he’s threatened in his time

sometimes you're plotting a person's demise just because they married your soulmate and you find them deeply annoying but then it also turns out they're a serial killer who has constantly threatened your family and people you don't hate. the high robert sugden is gonna experience about being right 🙏

This being Robert’s whole adult life 😭 Yes he was crazy to the Whites but the Whites produced a SERIAL KILLER. Yes he was crazy to Aaron but Aaron was just as crazy and it drove him mad (I would still have him back in a shot! What does that say about me?). Yes he was crazy to Andy but Andy got in a deal with Ross to have him KILLED. Now John is the pinnacle of this. It’s so funny in retrospect he’s made the rational actor. He is anything but

one thing robert does not need is something he was objectively correct abt to hold over his loved ones heads for the rest of time
