"There he is..." Four murmured under her breath, following the video on her laptop as she lightly applied paint to her canvas. Dotting a few more trees nearby, Four grabbed a cup of water off of her nightstand and rinsed her brush of the paint and moved to tap it dry on the rim of the cup, before the calming environment of her bedroom was broken by a trio of sharp knocks on her door. Falling out of her chair from the shock, Four used both hands to catch the cup of brush water before it spilled all over the room, though unfortunately with both of her arms occupied, there was nothing to stop her from crashing into her rug back-first. Scrambling back to her feet, Four placed the cup back on its coaster and slammed her laptop shut, before quickly backing into her door, accidentally slamming her back into it. Spinning around, she cracked the door open and positioned herself in such a way that her head obscured her art supplies. "Hi Eight!" She said, high-pitched and breathy.

"Are you in distress?" Eight asked bluntly."I heard sounds of violence."

Four blushed. "N-no! I'm fine!" She yelped. "I just fell out of my chair, that's all!"

Eight's eyes narrowed minutely. "Are you saying that because there is an enemy in your bedroom holding you prisoner?"

Four sputtered, unable to form coherent words due to sheer bafflement. "Why would you think that?!" She wheezed.

"Your door is very closed, and is hiding everything but your face."

Oh. Right. That is suspicious. Quick, think of an excuse that hides the fact you were painting because then she's gonna want to look at it and she's gonna make fun of you because you suck- Got it.

"I'M NOT WEARING A SHIRT!" Four blurred out, much louder than she meant to. It wasn't the most dignified of excuses but it was true. Why get a perfectly good shirt covered in incriminating and hard to clean paint? And at least an excuse like that would deter any somewhat normal individual.

"Is that why you are hiding behind the door?" Eight questioned, head tilted and eyebrow cocked.

"Mm-hmm!" Four nodded quickly. "Yep!"

Eight sighed and shook her head in the familiar motion of her slightly condescending "Surface People are Weird" nod. "I do not understand why you are so averse to being seen shirtless." She, someone who apparently had no sense of modesty, chided.

"I look gross!" Four pitifully whined.

"Doubtful, but I will not intrude on you." Eight accepted. Pursing her lips and pushing her fingers together, Eight averted her piercing eye contact. "Do you recall the beginning of this conversation when I asked if you were in distress? And you said you were not?" She asked, a slight blush dusting her cheeks.

Four slowly nodded. "Yesss..?" She quavered.

"That will change." Eight said with all the delicacy of a cinderblock. Unzipping her jacket, Eight spread the jacket apart to reveal what was underneath, something that made Four's hearts drop in terror.

"No." Four gasped, terrified.

"Yes." Eight said, ashamed.

Under Eight's jacket, was a shirt with four handwritten words that harbingered a great trial in the immediate future. And those four, marker-scrawled words? The ones that that promised nothing but difficulty?

"I Hate The Subway :("

"Why are you wearing your subway shirt?!" Four hissed.

Eight cringed. "The bus route to my book club was cancelled!" She wailed.

Four took a deep breath. "Ok. We don't have to do this. There's other options. You could use a taxi."

"I ran out of allowance."

"Carpool?"

"Everyone is unavailable."

"Cable car?"

"Still closed because of that incident with the bagpipes."

"...you could walk?" Four weakly offered.

Eight shook her head. "It is too far. I will not make it in time."

"Even if you Super Jump?"

Eight scoffed. "City ordinances ban Super Jumps at distances that far Four, you know that."

Four winced. "You could just... not go?"

"NO!" Eight whined. "I picked this book! I cannot just MISS the meeting!"

Four exhaled and looked away from Eight, frowning. "Ok. I'll go with you on the subway. Any more bad news?"

"Yes. As we were talking your door opened more and now I have a clear line of sight to your bra."

Four squealed and slammed the door.

Octarians have developed a rich culture surrounding the performing arts. Due to a multitude of factors such as power limitations and the lack of infrastructure for creating and distributing film, the Octarian people instead turned to the much less technologically strenuous medium of the performing arts, primarily drama. (Drama in this context meaning the live acting of dramatic literature.) The cultural affinity for the arts persisted even through the gradual increase of QOL in the domes (Due to the development of infrastructure, trade, and the increasing quality of stolen surface technology, which also lead to an increased understanding of salvaged human technology.) While film did find a niche once it went digital in the 1990s, it was relegated to supplementary instructional and educational material, with literature, card games, and performance remaining the primary source of entertainment for the wider masses. (Those with computer access were generally high-ranking, and smart enough to independently develop digital entertainment mediums such as basic video games, which were then traded with other developers for copies of their games.)

As an aside, some surface films (reels, tape, disc, etc.) and projecting equipment were acquired over the years, the equipment was generally cannibalized for parts and the films were confiscated due to the potential for causing a massive societal upheaval due via possibly negating current or future propaganda, though in many cases the stories were copied, altered, and passed off as original ideas for literature and performance from various places in the chain of custody.

How it started vs. How it's going with the Eight spidersona

I'm really happy with how this turned out (especially in comparison to the last work i did with this design), even though I couldn't figure out what to do with lighting/shading, and the base I used wasn't as close to the proportions I had in my head, but overall I'm satisfied with this redesign, even with that one tentacle looking really crooked.

The main source of inspiration from the Marvel side of things was the Superior Octopus design by Dan Slott and Giuseppe Camuncoli, which can be seen most clearly on the emblem shared across all the new designs, as well as the color scheme of the third. on the Splatoon side of things, the eyes of the suit are shaped around the general shape of Eight's, with nearly every other detail based around Smollusk, and later Overlorder. The color scheme is picked from Smollusk's chat icon and Overlorder's tableturf card, and the spots on the shoulders and thighs are supposed to match the spots on Smollusk's head, though the color changes can muddy that intention.

The reason why I made four designs is related to plot points if I ever actually write out the Spiderverse fics I've been thinking about for at least a year now, where it's tied to the black suit arc. As Smollusk, a baby symbiote, rapidly enters symbiote maturity, the suit more and more resembles an adult of the species, and alters Eight's behavior accordingly, until the point where the suit overtakes Eight, as shown by the symbiote's main eyes migrating from the corners to the center of the "lenses".

Their stealth level mostly depends on if it would be funnier to be caught or stay undetected, and if it would conflict with a plot. Generally it goes Eight>Three>Four>Neo.

That said, no. no she could not. her personal stringer sounds like a cannon firing every time it goes off.

I, uh, don't have a great question about agent 4's. They have a lot of range from nerdy shy kid to sporty and outgoing. (Tho Marie has a 50/50 shot being a mother figure or a romantic partner for them)

How many crimes has Neo Three committed? Are her and deep cut rivals?

UPDATE ON THE TAKEDOWN ACT

I have been informed that the House is going to have a committee hearing (energy and commerce committee) on the Take It Down Act. This is a bill that Trump has pushed hard to get passed so that he can abuse it and use it to take down social media posts criticizing him. Its another mass censorship tool disguised as "protecting kids".
