Just realised that whenever I see the phrase "I wouldn't touch that with a ten foot pole" I automatically think of a ten metre pole. Like a comically long pole. A ten foot pole isn't all that long. That's slightly less than two of my body lengths. Not touching something with a ten foot pole still lets you get pretty close to it actually.

I'm reading the new student info and handbook and stuff for the MLIS I'm starting in the fall and I keep getting hit with excitement not just because new life stage and whatnot but it turns out I find the idea of Information Science just as exciting as the Library of it all? Like this is kind of a Masters in Writing Good Instructions? Masters of Sort and Retrieve and Communicate Information? Masters of Think About The Context of Who Will Engage With The Information and Make It Accessible and Legible And Useful?

As someone who can happily revise and debate the language used in a sign to communicate concepts like "We Are Closed" and "The Book Return Is Not A Trashcan" for a while this feels right to me. Finally my passion for using Exactly The Right Word For The Situation will be an academic boon.
