"Hmm." Kai reached for the bottle, unconvinced. "I see. Popi, how long has it been now since I started coming here? And you've trusted me wholeheartedly from the start, si?" He decided to forgo the cup at all this time, instead taking a swig right from the bottle.

He'd been friends with her for years now- that was an undisputed fact. Still, as the years had rolled on, it had began to bug him, growing bigger and bigger with each passing summer.

Why did she like him so much, anyway? Sure he had friends in Karen, in Ann, even in shy Mary. But Popuri had taken to him right from the start... in fact, their friendship came so natural, it even startled him.

In that respect, he could almost see why Rick was so damn paranoid.

But hey. He came out here to have a good time, not be attacked for what he couldn't help.

*sits up with a start, trying to hide the fact that he'd been napping off a hangover*

Hola, Pete- dios mio, is it already that time of the season? *grins, walking around the counter* Muchos gracias, these looks wonderful. Would you like to sit down?

[Blinks as the proprietor of the stand makes a hasty entrance.] Ah, hello! I was just wondering if you were open. [Scratches the side of his nose as he gives the other man an apologetic smile.] Is your full menu available right now? I was eyeing the baked corn - tell me I'm not jumping the gun, hm?

[laughs, scratching his head]

Ah, si- I'm open, I just didn't change the sign, that's all. Everything is available- baked corn, you said? [smiles] Si, I can make that right away- it's the best around, you know? Come in, come in, I'll get started right away- you aren't from around here are you?

[chattering on nervously as he gets started preparing the corn, laying out the ingredients and getting out the bowls and utensils needed]

Kai was on his way to the Inn. Sure, he had his rooms at the Seaside Lodge to sleep in but that didn't mean he wasn't a little bit homesick for the familiar faces and tastes of the Inn.

He'd die, of course, before he admitted that, however. Doug and Ann were his cooking rivals- he'd always made it a habit to comment that he was only eating their food out of necessity, of course, jokingly. His mother had always said not to bite the hand that feeds him. And even though he could now feed himself...

Well, it was true what they said. Old habits died hard.

"Oof!" He winced as he walked right into someone with a large box in their hands. "Dios mio, I'm so sorry- Ann?" He frowned down at the red-haired girl. "Are you okay?"

The orange haired girl let out a deep sigh as she tried her best to carry the heavy box with both of her hands. Duh, she never really know that the box would be really this heavy!

Her father tried to warn her once, telling her that she should get someone to help her. But with her stubborn act, she told him that she could carry it all by herself. Someone totally had to remind her to listen to her father’s words next time, yeah, that’s it.

Now she had to bring this to someone’s place and she totally had no idea where was it. She tried to reach her pocket to get the paper that her father gave her that morning and held the box with one hand.

              Boom!

Someone bumped her, it wasn’t that hard—- But the situation that she carried the heavy box with her, of course she didn’t get any balance to stand up. Her butt landed perfectly on the ground, it was more hurt that she ever imagined.

        “Ugh….”

"Uh huh," Kai muttered distractedly, sipping at his alcoholic beverage. Maria give him the courage but he just didn't want to deal with this right now. He liked Popi, but this sibling drama was just out of his area of expertise, particularly because he hated Rick.

Particularly because, for some reason, he felt Rick was right this time.

"Well, Popi," He sighed once she'd finished. "He's just being a good hermano, si? He has to worry about you, you're his little sister." He drained his cup, plopping it down on the counter as a familiar warmth spread through his veins. "That being said, he is a chilito, and I hate his gringo ass but..." He frowned.

"Wait a second. Go back, por favor." He narrowed his eyes, suspicion aroused. "You trust me regardless because... why?"

"Woah, woah woah." He exhaled heavily. "Popuri, no. You aren't leaving."

How had it come to this? Man, but he really needed a stiff drink now. He walked around her to the counter, pulling out some bottles and cups, as well as a pitcher of milk from the fridge.

"Sit down. We're going to talk about this before you do anything rash, si?" He sighed. "You want some strawberry milk while I'm up here?"

He didn't really wait for a response, getting to work anyway. As soon as he'd finished, he slid it over to her, taking a sip of his night cap while he was at it.

"Why exactly are you running away, Popi?" He asked gently. "Tell me."

[Hovering near the snack shack patiently, waiting to see if the small establishment is open while browsing what menu he can see from where he is.]

[yawns, looking up from his cup of coffee]
