THE FACTIONS (ft. Salvador)

We’re taking a brief break from character introductions for something a little bit different today!

We’ve recruited Salvador, your first friend in the vampire underworld, to give us a brief rundown of the two main factions in Red Embrace: Paradisus. We’re quite fortunate that he took time out of his busy schedule to oblige us.

(Note: The following interview is an edited version of dialogue that will appear in next month’s Alpha build update.)

The NetiZen and the Lucaci Group

“You wanna know about the factions, huh?” Scratching his beard, Sal sniffs and twists his mouth to one side, apparently musing on your question.

“I’ll give you a little rundown, but you’re better off talking to the people who run the damn things.” He heaves a sigh, although you sense he’s not as disgruntled as he’s trying to be. “I wish they had info handouts or some shit, would make my job a lot easier.

“Well, first off, you have the NetiZen folks. Their name’s cheesy enough to induce cardiac arrest, but they’re smart—so smart it kinda scares me.” Sal shudders theatrically.

“They’re mostly young vampires, all wild about technology. They think it’s the future for our kind, our only hope of survival, that kind of shit.”

How do you think they’d react to MC?

“Eh, I’d say if MC makes a good enough impression, NetiZen would probably let ‘em in. They’re a lot friendlier to new vampires than old ones.”

Do they have a political ideology of some kind?

“Uh…maybe.” He doesn’t seem convinced. “I think they’re more about spiritual stuff than politics…oh yeah, and they like rave parties a lot. Does that tell you about their politics?” A little snicker.

“The other big corpse club out there is the Lucaci Group—though most people just call ‘em the Lucaci. It’s Romanian, I think. Really thematic, don’t you agree?

“Now, the Lucaci’s a bunch of traditional types, mostly older vampires, who’re filthy fucking rich. They basically own the Strip, and they’ve got a huge chunk of Vegas in their pockets.

“The group’s run by three dead folks…” He snaps his fingers a few times, then lets out a resigned sigh. “The names, uh, escape me. They’re weird people, but I gotta hand it to them—they do their best to keep the locals happy.”

And what would they think of MC?

Sal ponders this for a moment, squinting slightly. “That’s tricky. The Lucaci would probably let MC work for ‘em, but they’d really have to bring their A-game.”

Do they enforce any rules on other vampires, since they’re so powerful?

“You’d think they would, but for the most part, they don’t bother.” He smirks wryly. “Probably because it’s easier for them to just throw money at whatever problems people cause. Enforcing rules takes a lot of time and money. Not worth it.

“They do have a beef with the NetiZen kids though, and vice versa, so just be aware of that. It’s not open war or anything, but if you play nice with one…the other will probably tell you to go fuck yourself.

“But yeah, that’s the factions.” Sal claps his hands together with satisfaction. “Once all this chaos blows over, maybe MC will join one. Or maybe they won’t.”

He pauses, his eyes glimmering devilishly in the light. “Just a roll of the dice.”

Vampire facts

Facts about Vampires from the game:

vampires are categorized in 3 houses: Iscari, Golgotha and Mavvar

(more information on the houses in the next posts)

humans turn into vampires when the are drained and they drink the blood of a vampire

becomes a living corpse, no heartbeat, don’t need to breath

the childe gets the house of their sire

the childe and sire have a strong bond

after turning becomes stronger, faster and has better senses than humans

they need blood to survive

only need one bag of blood (525 ml) to satisfy the hunger

doesn’t need to drink everyday

the older you get the longer can you go without it

human blood is sweet

vampire blood is poisonous

vamp blood has bitter, acidic smell

can gain power by eat another vamp’s flesh

but not everyone can do it

When a vampire drinks from a human the human gets a euphoric sensation

after drinking the victim faints

normal humans don’t remember incident

only special humans like strix remember the encounter

but to do so they need to concentrate

Dream Interpretation: Vampires

What is Dream Interpretation?

It is assigning meaning to dreams, meaning using what one dreams of and the symbols, objects and events of the dream to relate them to the psychological, emotional and sometimes spiritual state of the dreamer. Some use it as a way to divine and predict the future while others use it to help assess their emotional states and subconscious thoughts they may be ignoring in waking life.

General Overview and Meaning

A vampire in your dream can relate to numerous meanings. Sometimes they can relate to a person’s desire of romance and physical affection; other times they relate to feeling drained and tired in your waking life. If the dreamer is generally fond of vampires then seeing them in dreams tends to lean more towards the positive. Due to recent media portrayals of vampires many now associate them with sex and romance.

Specific Dream Situations

Following/Watching You: Often, when a vampire is following or stalking you in a dream they represent an aspect of yourself that you feel is parasitic and negative to who you are. They may also represent a person who you feel has been draining you and are exhausting to be around. If the vampire also takes on the appearance of a specific person you know in your waking life then it may mean that specific person is starting to drain you of your patience and are getting on your nerves.

To Be a Vampire: To be or become a vampire in your dream represents a selfish need to use or feed off of others in your waking life. You may also be overly dependent on a friend, family member or significant other and are subconsciously aware of it.

Being Bitten or Fed Off of: You currently feel like others are using you and you feel very much helpless to it. You may also feel trapped in a relationship that is “sucking the life out of you”.

Original/Traditional Vampires: Seeing a more horrific and bat like vampire in your dreams indicates something very distressing is going on in your life and it is negatively affecting you. Some psychologists link these dreams to people who are sickly or unwell. There also seems to be a common pattern of dreamers with heart problems/illnesses dreaming of nightmarish vampires.

Sexy “Modern” Vampires: The dreamer currently desires more in their love and/or sex life. It is feeling bland and lack-luster to you right now and honestly, you are feeling bored.

Being Chased by Several Vampires: You are fighting some major force in your life and its very stressful. The situation itself may be scaring you more than you’d like to admit. You may feel like you are losing the battle as well, and that your failure is “catching up to you”.

Falling in Love with a Vampire: This dream is very common but often means you are thinking romantically about someone and you are still on a subconscious level are trying to figure it out.

Intercourse/Kissing a Vampire: You are feeling sexually stifled and even neglected. This dream is very common after break-ups.

Killing or Hunting Vampires: You are overcoming your dependence on someone and are finally confronting your problems/flaws.

Dracula: To dream specifically about Dracula means there is a person you are intimidated by that is making more of a presence in your life than before and it is very upsetting to you.

Divination

For a long time it was believed dreaming about a vampire in the traditional sense was an omen of doom and disaster and likely tragedy. In some cultures dreaming of a vampire was similar to that of dreaming of a demon (especially for religious cultures) meaning something evil is at play. Modernly, dreaming about vampires in the modern sense or romantically may allude to a relationship to come or a new ��mysterious person’ to enter your life.

Today, the AG Discord Server, @golgotha-visions​, @haysalhero​, and I made a US map that includes which vampire house owns which state. This is the final result.

We agreed that Missouri is a cursed state, so it is fitting to give it to Lazarus. Now it shall be called Lazzouri. Looks like he’s trying to eat the US lol

There was also a discussion about a Mavvar vs Iscari Potato War with the Golgotha throwing cows into the mix.

RE:H as Tarot Cards Series. #5- Andrei as The Hierophant

What does The Hierophant card symbolise?

The Hierophant represents traditions, rituals and rites as well as teaching disciples. It’s a card of commitment to a system or religion. Someone who is a teacher, a guide or mentor. The Hierophant is often someone to look up to for spiritual and emotional guidance and in return they ask for your service or charity.

Why I see Andrei as The Hierophant.

Andrei is someone who is as mysterious as he is complex. Over the course of the story he acts as someone willing to offer another side, but at a cost. Most fear him but those under him see him as a mentor, a guide and maybe even a twisted father figure. He has ambitions that he will see to fruition but he knows where his value lies.

The Moon (illusions, secrets), 9 of Swords (intrusive thoughts, dreams/nightmares/the unconscious) 10 of Pentacles (growth, family)

RE:H as Tarot Cards Series. #4- Saorise as Justice

What does the Justice card symbolise?

Justice represents karma, either dealing out or getting dealt. It’s sticking to your guns and knowing things will balance out. Hope and loss are both guaranteed with this card as something can’t be gained without something being left to maintain balance.

Why I see Saorise as Justice.

Over the course of the game Saorise has to come to terms with both her successes and failures. She accepts her lot with grace and, no matter her ending, will get what is coming to her. Karma must be restored as it’s dangerous to hold too many cards. Power is a hard thing to hold on to so sacrifices must be made.

5 of Swords (blockages, challenge), 10 of Swords (betrayal, backstabbing) and 5 of Cups (not realising whats in front of you, missed opportunities)

RE:H as Tarot Cards Series. #3- Randal as The Magician

What does The Magician card symbolise?

The Magician symbolises power, control, ability and persuasion. It’s the power to draw on what isn’t there and make it real. It’s the ability to channel your own power into action and that action into results.

Why I see Randal as The Magician.

Randal fits all of the above. Sure, I could have given him Strength, The Chariot or even Judgement but The Magician really called out to me. Randal has the ability to turn peoples thoughts into action, he can create a maelstrom from a light breeze, a rebellion from a group of friends.

He has the uncanny ability to connect to others and draw out their inner fire, what makes them tick and, most of all, their potential. He wants us to shine for who we are. When our character is first introduced they have no idea who they are anymore but Randal helps by guiding you to carve your own path.

Strength ( compassion, confidence and victory), Judgement ( transformation, accounting for your past) and 2 of Swords (pulling the wool from your eyes, seeing through peoples lies)

What does the Death card symbolise?

The Death card symbolises the end of cycles. There’s nothing you can do to stop it, change is coming and you need to prepare. It also means a transition between stages in life.

Why I see Markus as Death.

Everybody fears the Death card until they realise what it means. Inevitable change. Markus throughout his playthrough is always at a point of change for us. When we change into a vampire, when we pick a side and then his SE ending.

Out of everybody, Markus is that inevitable change, the others fight for their own status quo but Markus lets the changes come and adapts.

Randal was the most casual, friendly vampire I’d met so far. Blunt and opinionated, maybe, but I had the sense he wouldn’t try to manipulate me, unlike most others probably would.

What does The Devil card symbolise?

It symbolises addiction, materialism, constraints and feeling trapped. Drowning in ones vices and delusions. 

Why I see Heath as The Devil.

Heath is addicted to his own world- Hollywood, fame and glamour. Whenever he comes back to the “real world” he seems to lose control. His addiction to physical vices are also a reason why I feel this card fits him. 

He’s a prisoner of his own mind and his obsession to be the valuable to someone. It’s only when he shatters his own chains that he’ll be free to be who he truly is, not how he thinks he should be.
