I’m my honors art class my teacher said we need to show off our art to the public somehow so I decided to post I here and on some of my other socials

This is a acrylic painting of the Penobscot river.

The theme of this piece is to show how beautiful the river is, how it helped the Natives, and how even modern families rely on the river.

“And over time they grew this relationship with the natural world, a relationship between the people and Gici Niwaskw, the great spirit, between the people and mother earth, and the people and the creatures of the land and the river.” this quote explains the message trying to project out with this art piece.

I chose this topic because instead of focusing on the sad past and present i wanted to create a visual metaphor for the people and the creature, the gods, spirits and nature.

Something unique i decided to do was to make the flowers that represent the connections 3-D to make my statement I decided to make the flowers three-dimensional to create a unique focal point and draw the viewer into the scene.
