Raorchestes travancoricus, variously known as the Travancore bushfrog, Travancore bubble-nest frog, or Travancore tree frog. #Nikond780 + #nikon40mm + #godoxtt685 + #radiantdiffuser For some time, R. travancoricus was feared to be extinct. It was rediscovered from Vandiperiyar in 2004 by researchers from University of Delhi. The reason behind almost all of the western ghat endemic species to become rare to sight is 'habitat loss or destruction'. But it's an interesting fact that now we are observing them getting used to cardamom and tea plantations which have replaced their natural vegetation! High voltage action! A failed attempt to kill a sambar deer and fawn by a pack of wild dogs. This action was happening too near to the human inhibited area of the PTR unfortunately. The wild dogs got alert by a few tourists screaming and fled. These are some downsides of eco-tourism. Either the tourists should behave or the entry must be limited to those who are interested in wildlife and know how to behave in forests. Unaware, and not bothered tourists are a reason behind the increasing accidents and unfortunate incidents happening in forest reserves! This one is from Gavi, PTR.
