Bro the old version is so 2013 tumblr weheartit core.

I also did the same redraw in 2018 but now I dislike it even more than the 2013 original. At that time I really thought I "conquered" digital art, yet I wasn't able to embrace the cringe and keep the original's vibe. What do I think of the 2025 one? Erm, nothing. Yet. I just want to see what I'll be able to do in 10 more years

Life update / Tattoos / Book talk 

Yesterday I did  the last tattoo of the month and I’m going to be taking a vacation (with only a little bit of tattooing) in Germany. I also finished a book illustration project I’ve been working on since February and I’m super happy and excited. I can’t wait for it to be published and just hold it in my hands (I need physical proof it’s definitely real). 

So what does all that mean is… I have some free time, finally. I’ve been playing BG3 again and I’m making eyes at my new tiefling Durge so maybe, just maybe, there’s going to be more BG3 art from me. 

I’ve also been reading a lot so uuh if anyone here is interested in being friends on goodreads: here’s mine. 

I’m looking for a life changing book that will destroy me in some way. I’m currently having a streak of books that I didn’t connect with, which are: Kuang’s “Yellowface” (I don’t know what to say about it, the protagonist’s POV was hard to go through in a not very interesting way), Clive’s “Hellbound Heart” (Like WHAT! This should’ve been THE book for me and it ended up just disappointing me in the end), Bazterrica’s “Tender is the flesh” (another disappointment, cool setting that goes nowhere), McCarthy’s “No country for old man” (it was good, but I didn’t hit me like Blood Meridian or The Road). 

So I’m planning to read:

House of Leaves: I don’t know anything about it other than it seems awesome and spoookey. 

Lolita: I think I know everything about it but I’ve never actually read Nabokov and my sister told be his writing is something else (and if she says so..)

The song of Achilles: I didn’t love Circe but I have expectations for this one. 

The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo: I will only read it because SO many people love it. I’ve always been side-eyeing this book because whatever the cover is giving I’m not clicking with it. And the title. And the premise. I just feel a strong “this is not for me” aura coming from this book and YET I’m going to read it and see if we’ll have an enemies to lovers story. Please be good, please be amazing.

If you have any opinions on these books and also be SUPER vague and non-spoilerish about them, I’m all ears!

Some of the process pics and my thoughts:

The initial sketch with a pen was the most important step. When I saw this image in my head I had to be very quick and precise in a strategic manner to capture the idea before it's gone forever. Just enough details so I can understand my own vision with no fear of being messy or judged (by myself of course: my worst enemy).

The second sketch is digital. Still trying to pursue the idea but now with more choices. This is where the most of the decisions are made. No anatomy, references or anything in sight, just pure sketching.

The third image is the result of the drawing phase. I used photo references for each character portait and Robin's figure. Here I was pretty satisfied but very scared of messing up. I knew I wanted to paint and add colors. I knew I didn't want to be a perfectionist with the perspective of the center composition: even such small interiors scare me to death. I have very little understading of 3D spaces and imagining the perspective grid and all that, so I left the silver piles, books and floor until I couldn't progress more. The 8 portraits were pretty scary too. I don't like rendering when I have a clean drawing but I had to try. So yeah, that's pretty much it. A combination of drawing and painting.

This took me a day and a half.
