I should take up a crafting hobby of some kind to keep the hands busy when I binge watch things; something I can keep up with if, for some unforeseen reason, I ever get sent to Arkham. Umm, I actually do need three copies of Pride and Prejudice. I need the annotated copy with all my thoughts written in the margins and my favorite quotes highlighted, I need the shitty paperback I’m not afraid to lose or ruin for when I go out of town and need something to read, and I need the pretty and decorative copy that has a library binding and illustrations and pressed flowers on the paper and replicas of all the letters tucked in the pages. Author intention is important, yes, in the academic context of understanding the text and learning about the culture it was written in but when it comes to interpretation of the story it means as much as any other person’s, especially when it was written so long ago

Just because there is a romance at the center of the plot doesn’t make it a romance book—would you consider the book/show ‘You’ a romance too? Huh? The plot is centered around romance and Joe is the male lead even though he stalks and kills Beck.

The very fact that Rochester deceives Jane and plays mind games with her the whole book making her question how he feels and what she sees and hears around the manor changes the tone of the book in a way that makes it read as a thriller. It is capital R Romantic but it is not a romance!!

If the expected discharge time for an aortic dissection repair is a week, why must I be in the hospital for ten days?

Granted it was not a typical surgery, and there was some pulmonary resection, but it was minor and that procedure is typically three days release. Recovery from surgery is inherently concurrent!

No, I absolutely unironically believe that, actually. He’s a little rich boy, but he’s still Gotham born and bred. I had to look through a lot of old archived newspapers and tabloids at the Gotham Library for my thesis and I stumbled across a whole hoard of old articles about him getting into rough, public fights when he was a teenager.
