So so SO relevant to 2025, particularly for us Americans who saw this coming back in 2016 already.
One of my fav Garak moments.

Amen to this..

My favorite thing about Body Parts (s4e24) is that Garak was obviously never going to kill Quark. He just decides to spend an afternoon in the holosuites demonstrating his terrifying skills for kicks. Then he solemnly promises Quark that he will definitely kill him very soon –
And you never see him again in that episode. He just goes to the Replimat and orders a spice pudding and eats it while reading poetry or something.

I -love- all the reaction shots in this scene but above all Garak’s.
Garak in this lighting...makes me feel some...some feral things

I WANT HIM

Hi, everyone! I've only written a couple of short fanfics in the past year or so, but I'm thinking of doing so.
Any "votes" on what I might do next, of the possibilities above?
I already wrote and posted the asexual Garak story and have a series going of '80s songfics going.
What should I write?
I haven’t written any long Garashir fanfic in almost 2 years, just some shorter ones. I was avoiding startomg any “sagas” or major multiparty because I had stories commissioned for publication. somehow I thought not writing fanfiction would make me write the non-fanfic faster. Not really true!
Anyway, over time I’ve developed several story ideas, some of which are more fleshed out than others. Thoughts?
- Post-Cardassia story in which Garak and Bashir become lovers, although not in s conventional sense, as Garak reveals he’s asexual. (This one is all plotted.)
- Sisko brings “Great British Bake Show” to DS9 as a morale booster and much hilarity and drama ensues. Nog is surprisingly good, Garak is meticulous, Julian is clueless, Miles is foolishly confident, Jake wants to please dad, etc. Will there he a soggy bottom?
- Some kind of story involving a Cardassia from a desert tribe, equatorial, with dark skin and who’ve managed to retain some cultural identity despite age-old policies of homogenization, language eradication. He ends up in Cardassia City.
- Deep Dish Nine story where boyfriends Garak and Bashir have a new neighbor in the building, who they discover is former Stasi, East German secret police. (This was inspired by a visit to the Stasi Museum in Berlin l, which is in the actually agency HQ, and subsequently reading about it. It kept making me think Obsidian Order, meaning it was an inspiration.)
- Russian antique dealer from 20th century, who grew up under Soviets, through some kind of time travel, ends up on DS9, where she opens a shop selling galactic antiques, though mostly jewelry. Her shop is next to Garak and they become acquainted. They end up doing s lit club ala Garak and Bashir, except she’s passing off Russian lit. There’s be discussions of Chekhov, Gogol and a few other Russian authors I know well enough. (This ides is whacked, but I keep wanting it.)
- Series of Garashir song fics built around The Cure, Depeche Mode, The Smiths / Morissey. Stuff like “Shame,” “Walking in My Shoes,” “In Your Room,” “Inbetween Days,” “Late Night, Maudlin St.” Basically, a self-indulgent Gen-X fic filled mostly with kind goth angst.
- Letter-fic of Bashir replying to Garak’s “letter” (A Stitch in Time) with a long (but not even novella length) reply if his own, equally revealing. Like ASIT, would switch between present and past.
Any of these strike any interesting?
Hopelessly Gen-X,
Wendy

So I wrote another one. Yesterday one dropped out of me quickly. Today it was even quicker. Another Depeche Mode inspired Garashir songfic.
Summary:
Garak makes a special gift for Bashir. Over the years, its meaning grows. Songfic based on Depeche Mode's "Blue Dress," although in fact there isn't a blue dress to be found. "Something so worthless Serves a purpose It makes me a happy man Can't you understand?"
Notes:
After a year and a half away from this series, away from writing anything, for the second night in a row I've added to it. This story derives from a song off Violator that I've always loved. It's so simple, slow and full of deep love. Listen over on YouTube and see full lyrics over here. Meanwhile, please note that unless otherwise indicated, these individual stories do not connect. They represent various different realities and situations. For example, in one Bashir and Garak never get together, while in another they've been married 40 years, and in yet another Garak has taken Bashir prisoner. That's what I love about fanfic: it's like a multiverse, mirror universes, mirrors cracked, sometimes intersecting, sometimes not, all realities at once.
Enjoy!

Picking up on my Garashir New Wave series afer more than a year, I take Depeche Mode's "Walking In My Shoes" as the inspiration of another short fic. Not quite a drabble, but with fairly minimal plot. They talk a lot.
Setting & Time: DS9, following episode "Broken Link." Garak is in the brig.
Summary: After attempting genocide of the Founders, Garak finds himself in DS9's brig. He has no idea how he's going to manage six months of boredom without going mad. Until one day he has a somewhat unexpected visitor. Would the doctor berate him or, as he sometimes did unknowingly, flirt?
Excerpt: After the rage he'd felt in the face of the female Changeling's threat – wiping out the Cardassian race – he couldn't miss the opportunity for preemptive revenge. So, when he'd seen the weapons arrays were unattended and Odo, Sisko, and the doctor were on the surface, he'd seized the moment and attempted to rid the universe of as many of the loathsome shapeshifters as possible. Alas Worf had to show up at just the wrong moment and thwart his plans. Damn that Klingon.
And of course I have to share the video!
