when creating my patterns from my primary images i wanted to create a subtle effect with the flowers but wasnt sure how to do it. i ask my tutor how to improve it and i used the effect tools to create a more sutble effect with the flowers which i like. reflecting on my work i could imprive it by doing a different composition as i have done a couple of patterns with the same compositon.

I started to develop my patterns by duplicating the images and creating a pattern, instead of duplicating the window image in the background I’ve repeated the flower as well and the original background.

Reflection...

Reflecting on the work I have produced over the last week, when producing my work I need to make sure I do different verities of the work. Also I need to make sure I do everything thorough such as my shoot plans make sure I explain and show the outfit but also how I could change it to make it slightly different. Moreover, when creating my patterns I need to be more adventurous and think outside the box instead of doing the obvious such as adding the flower in the middle of the windows and repeating it.

When creating the shoot I need to make sure I have everything planned so i can have the most successful shoot.

Within this clip I learnt that lighting within fashion photography can play a massive part on how well your images turn out. Also lighting can change the mood of the image weather it be using gels or just using soft box lighting. You can also have different lighting that cover different parts of the image such as the foreground could be a different colour to the background if you’re using gels which I think is interesting and I would love how to learn how to accomplice this technique. I have also learnt that doing extreme camera angles could change the whole image, so you don’t have to be online with the model you can be below the model and higher than the model to create these extreme camera angles.

When watching this documentary about Mario Testino, I learnt that when taking your photographs the models may look weird in person but when looking through the images they will look great. Also when taking your images don’t be afraid of making the model do thing you wouldn’t normally do because they will fit well within your shoot and makes your shoot look better. Moreover, when getting a model make sure they are comfortable because when model aren’t comfortable it show through the images. Also if you’re not happy with what the model s doing tell them how you want them because it will make your images look better because you have picked how you want them to be.

When watching this clip on Teen Vogue, I found out that become a fashion photographer isn’t easy and that you have to have the confidence to show everyone and anyone your portfolio to get work. But also you have to make yourself stand out and get noticed for doing something different but also interesting. When become a fashion photographer people usually do another job on the side to start off with to get themselves notices such as in this clip the women she did DJing and she got noticed because there wasn’t that many girl DJs. But she got an internship at vogue and carried on having her portfolio in and got a job in a higher department so I have learnt to be come a photographer you have to be determined otherwise you wont get a photography job.

When taking these images on my photoshop I didn't change the setting when I took the image so when I came to edit them, they were good image with the composition but I over exposed the images. When I came to edit the image I tried to say the by changing the levels and using the dodge tool to make the image darker but it made background go darker but not the model.

Reflection

When starting my project I gained my inspiration from visiting galleries and collecting primary images. I decided that I would choose the project of look books and trends. When thinking of trend packages I gained my inspiration from primary images, I overcame this problem by finding images that I liked and choosing bits of the images that I could expand and make into a trend. Also when doing a shoot I had limited time to complete the shoo to the best quality so when taking the images I could take as many as I would have liked but when editing the images I had enough images. To overcome the time issue I had to use my time effectively to get the best images out of it and re-plan the shoot so I could use the images I taken. When problem solving it helped me rethink quickly and helped me to think of my own ideas.

When collecting my research it helped gained inspiration for my trend and shoots I used primary and secondary images. I used my primary images to inspire my trends and my secondary images how to style my models and what position to put them in. I used Pinterest to inspire my looks. When finding the appropriate research it helped me to inspire my shoot it made my shoot easier for me to put outfit together and the makeup. When having all my idea I need to put them down in to one document so I made a table to include everything within it. When reflecting on my research, I need to make sure I use my research when doing my shoots because I collected everything I need but don’t use it within the shoot, which would be the way to get the best possible images so I have references to look at.

When reflecting on my practical work I need to work faster and make sure everything I do it up to distinction standard. When I started my practical work I wanted to make sure I was doing everything to the best of my abilities. I am making a look book to present different trends which I am creating. When creating the ideas it was all based on my research so I had to have good research to back up my trend. I have done 4 photoshoot for two trends, two in the studio and two on location. Reflecting on the photoshoot the studio images came out better quality and they look more professional then the location shoot. I think the location shoot didn’t come out successful because I have never done a location shoot before so finding location suitable for the shoot was hard especially when it had to be a bright background. Also to make sure I am doing the best work and it’s at a high standard I need to reflect and evaluate more often on my blog and in my rough book so I can improve on my work in the moment.

When setting tasks to do weekly or daily I need make sure I stick to what I’ve said but also if something else come up do that as well so I don’t forget to do what I was meant to do, or even I could update my action plan or my tasks for that day so it show I am always reflecting on my work.

I am going to take forward from this reflection that I need to reflect more often on my blog or in my rough book, so when I come to look back though my book I’ve shown that development from what I said with to what I’ve ended with. But also I will be taking forward time management if I said I need to do certain task I need to do before the end of the day and if not stay behind finish it off or do it at home.

I have started to do variation for my mood boards for trend 2 to show what the project is about visually. To improve my mood board I could make one of the images bigger so that would be the main image and then enlarge some of the other images to make the images look propionate to the other images. I have included these images so show the inspiration I found to inspire the shoot/look book.

Reflection

Reflecting on my work today, I have poduced a shoot but also had to slove problems on the way such as I planned to have the studio for 2 hours but only had it for 1 hour so I had faster also when I taped the shapes to the dress they were falling off so I had to carry on sticking them back on but I had to stick normal tape over the top of the normal tape so they would stick to the dress.

When planning for my shoot and outfit my tutor come up with a table to help me plan my outfits so I can get as many outfits in my shoot as possible and I know whats going with them. I have found this table has helped me out getting orginised for my shoot.

I have started to create outfits for my first shoot which is trend 1 the citrcus shoot. When reflecting on my work I won't use the maxi dress and play suit because they are floral which will contrast against the citcrus and people will get a different impression about the trend. I'm going to include make up and accessories was well in this shoot.

When reflecting on my work I decided to document different veration of my layout of my work. I wanted the layout to be simple but I will also be adding strips of colour through out the pages so all my pages link up together. Moreover, my favourite layout is the ones with all the images in the centre of the page.

When improving my work I decided I wanted to include more vibrant images so I could take inspiration from them so when I take primary images to include I can edit them to the same brightness and satirisation. Also include patterns and fashion images to inspire me for my shoot. This mood board is better than my original mood board because it show the theme more clearly and it’s more inspiration as the fashion images are what I want to capture my images like.

When creating the mood boards I want to my thought process and what I decided to do to improve my work. I wanted to show the different layout I was picking and how to improve them. I am doing my mood board on citrus fruits so I want to show patterns and clothing with it on. To improve my mood boards I need to pick better fashion images and also physical fruit photographs instead of drawn fruit. Furthermore, I am keeping the colour pallet but I am changing the image to better high quality images to inspire me more.

Research ideas and exhibitions

Before starting unit 13 I needed to do some research to help me find starting point for my project I want to do. Tomorrow I am going to Liverpool to look at photography exhibitions but also other exhibitions, I will be visiting The Open Eye Gallery, The Walker Gallery, Bluecoast etc to gain some inspiration. I will be looking for colour, styles of work to inspire me and gain a starting point from.
