Good Kid Maad CIty illustration
Constructed from pencil and pro markers as these give a really bright effect on the paper i did it in the style of Grafitti to reflect back on my work and research i found this really fun to do as i based it around kendrick Lamar’s work and around a Black Man living in America!
Good kid is a song by Kendrick lamar who i researched into deeply. The song represents being baptized and finding oneself. By the end of Good Kid, mAAd City, you've come to understand that K Dot's previous view that “money, power, respect” being the end all be all is dangerous code to live by. And that “Real” is a reflection of what could have been.

Black Man Postcard illustration
This illustration piece was made up entirely of post cards i laid them down on the page and marked where i was going to put the head, shoulders, neck and what parts i could add a grafitti effect and replace where parts of the face would be to replace it with brands and cartoon drawings. I really enjoyed this piece as it represents the black man as colourful and fun going against the stereotype of a black man being violent rough and aggressive! There is references in there like the upside down Nike rick as the eye brow. Nike is a big part of black culture especially in the 80s and 90s as Hip hop was made by Black culture in New York City. I Made this from post cards by sticking them on the page and then drawing on first an eye a top mouth and then a rough sketch of the neck and head and filled and replaced things randomly around the edge. If i were to do this again i would draw on the post sticks before l stuck anything down to get a better effect

“STEP ON HIS NECK AS HARD AS YOUR BULLETPROOF VEST”
This illustration is based on police brutality as you can see there is a police officer who’s shooting at a black man. the inspiration from this was from Kendrick lamar’s song Good kid and the title of this piece is a really deep quote from his song. When i listened to this song it really gave me shivers because it’s so deep and true and it happens so much in America and Britain. The graphic line needs to be said and not sugar coated that’s what i liked it? I’m tired of black people being murdered and it being sugar coated or ignored this is a racialist issue that needs to be resolved and not ignored. Nothing has changed since jim crow and slavery White supremacists are getting away with lynchings still and jo justice is being brought. I put all this anger and all this upset into my illustrations because that’s when i work my best. I want everyone to understand how bad racism still is
I sketched this out in a cartoon way to support my research of graffiti and street art. Everything was fine in pencil inside pro markers and made sure i added shine and shadows to make it look more real and add that street art effect the pro markers worked really well as they make my illustrations bold If i was going to improve this i would use a stencil for my letters as i think they’re messy

“REST IN POWER!”
This is an illustration in memory of George Fliyd who sadly died due to Police officer derrick Chauvin who kneeled on george’s neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds whilst George was laying on the ground shouting “I cant breathe”. Derek Continued to kneel there whilst George was dying. George was pulled over for a non violent offence as as teenage convenience story employee called the police an accused George of using a Counterfeit $20 bill. For me personally when i heard this story i was disgusted. I never saw anything like this and to make it worse i was unaware things like this happened so much In America And Britain and that was because the media never put anything about these things that were happening. As soon as this happened last year it really shook me and i started looking into the deaths of black americans and britain’s due to police and racism and the list was incredibly long! George’s story really hit me as they used to call him the Gentle Giant because of his height, George never did anything wrong and the $20 bill wasn’t a fake bill. Even if it was does he deserve to die?
I constructed this from pencil and got a picture of George Floyd and figured out where the shadows would be on his face and tried my hardest to get his face shape accurate. I fine-lined and left no colour as it looked clean there and i liked the idea of blm and the black and white colours

NO MORE EXCUSES- Property of America and Britain
This illustration is a very deep neo expressionistic art piece based around the murders of black people by the police! My inspiration came with the gun wound and the blood splattered American flag as i wanted people to really understand the actual fault of black lives’ deaths by the hands of police brutality and racism is americas fault. The blood splattered American flag coming out of the child’s head suggests to the audience that this is americas fault and they have blood on their hands. On the bullet it says Property of America and Britain which once again suggests that the problem is America and Britain and that they’d not doing enough to support black lives. I wanted to add a deep emotion with the mother crying i wanted the audience to see the pain in her eyes this reflects back to mothers with black sons and daughters that are scared that if their black sons or daughters go out they might get a phone call saying that they’re are dead from a shooting or a beating by the police whom abuse their power. On the babies face it says “no more excuses” the reason behind the baby having no face is to do with the fact that the police cover up and won’t release body cam and dash cam footage of arrests because they know they can loose their jobs and go to prison for killing and beating under no offence. “No more excuses” says that there no more excuses for black lives being taken. I constructed this by sketching the mother first and then finelining the hair and the face, I did this with all the parts of the illustration bra for i coloured in with pro markers. I didn’t want to colour in the skin too much so i added harsh strokes to create the neo expressionistic affect to the mothers arms and left the rest white.
