This wonderful event returns to Calgary this Friday, September 29! Check out all the details and get your ticket.
Helping Families Handle Cancer has been, and remains, a life saver for many families facing the extreme stress, fear and uncertainty of a childhood cancer diagnosis. Through awareness and provision of emotional and financial support, there is no doubt that this charity, through its grass roots work, has helped save the lives of children and maintained strong families as they fight their worst fears and battle.

It was amazing to run in the Run for the Kids Race with Foster and Kaidence this past weekend! This was the first annual RBC Run, supporting youth mental health programs and awareness through the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation. We were running for our son, who has has been on a most difficult journey with severe OCD and anxiety. I have had the great honour of cycling for Foster - a leukemia survivor - in 2 Alberta Tour for Kids (2016 and 2017) and in the National Kids Cancer Ride. So great that Foster and his family were able to join us. And, wow, did they ever raise a lot of awareness and funds for this special cause!! Depression, anxiety and other mental health challenges are also just some of the many struggles that childhood cancer survivors and families affected by this devastating disease face, so I think it's also important to think of how debilitating cancer, the awful treatment protocols and long term impacts are. Much love to everyone. xo

‘Ride, Don’t Hide’ June 25, 2017
It’s only one week until I cycle in the 2017 Ride, Don’t Hide event, advocating for mental illness. This year, I am riding for my youngest son, and my family and friends, some of whom have struggled with mental illness, and all of whom bring me the love, joy and support to manage on my own difficult days.
This video of Mark, one of the Calgary Ride, Don’t Hide Ambassadors, is so inspiring:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6PQLwwvIHqo
It is hard to get past the stigma and embarrassment of mental illness, and I am thankful for these ambassadors and the Canadian Mental Health Association for making the road easier.
Please contribute to the important work of the Canadian Mental Health Association by volunteering, breaking the stigma of mental illness, riding, and considering a donation to my 2017 Ride, Don’t Hide Fundraising. Here is my fundraising page:

Peace,
Graham
