Lord of Dreams & Nightmares

:0 started as a doodle sitting on the floor of my friend’s place, finished it sitting on the floor of another friend’s place…so anyway?? I just love ?? entities that aren’t definite in appearance???

They morph into faces, some in various states of discomfort. Hands, claws, and one tentacle reach out from the clothing. The drawing plays with negative space so you’re not sure what part of the robe is fire. There is a shadow behind his head with three mouths, filled with pointy teeth. His head is halo-ed with the orbit of a planet around a star. Dream pours sand through his hands, leading to a white space at the bottom where there is a small figure of himself, standing. Mr Gaiman, I read somewhere that back in the 80s Michael Jackson wanted to play Morpheus, is that true?

In around 1996 was told by Bill Gerber, who was then Head of Production for Warner Bros, that Michael Jackson had recently called him asking to play Morpheus, yes.
