Artist Nicole Koleková was born on May 13. 1991 in Bratislava, where she also studied in the years 2010-2017 at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in the field of restoration of stone sculptures and architectural elements.
During her studies, she was introduced to and captivated by ceramics, specifically with figurative expression in this material, predominantly animal figures. After finishing her studies, she worked in the field of restoration for several years and left her mark on many cultural monuments throughout Slovakia.
However, in addition to her profession, she was increasingly attracted to freelance work as an independent artist, and after years of creative work, she has established herself as such since 2022. The main focus of her work in sculpture, drawing, and occasionally painting is animal figures, of which mostly but not only are represented horses.
Her work can be dominantly described as records of the untamed dynamism of the animal subject in expressive gestural modeling and their unique natural character captivated in focused details.
During her studies, she was lucky enough to be introduced to the traditional technique of woodkiln-fired ceramics. A very rare approach for ceramic sculpture that gives every work an individual, unrepeatable color and luster that cannot be achieved in any other way.
