When are people going to understand that a baby between hisu and eren is would do NOTHING. Say they did have a baby at 16, at 19 it would be 3yrs old. What is a 3yr old going to do in a war? How would forcing eren to impregnate historia help them in anyway at all? Why does it have to be eren who impregnates her anyway? It literally doesn’t matter if its a shifter who is the father. The shifter abilities can go to anyone, it not a father -> child or mother -> child genetic inheritance thing.

But the most important thing here is WHY ARE PEOPLE REDUCING HISTORIA TO A BABY MAKER.  Shes a woman not a womb. Its disturbing how people want her to become Erens baby maker. Especially in the situation where she is being forced to have a child for reasons of war. 

I get that historia is of royal blood and they need royal blood for the founding titan’s powers but unless they expect the war to last years, long enough for the child to be old enough to fight, a baby would be useless. Not only that but the child would be doomed to die if its used to control the titan. Why would eren or historia choose to have a child only to use it as a weapon that will die. Who’s to say the kid wont end up hating them and deciding fuck you guys ill kill you and join the other side?

In this situation everyone becomes nothing but tools and its gross. Its gross that people are so happy about the idea of historia becoming nothing but a plot device to pop out a kid for their ship and a weapon for the plot. How is no one concerned that their otp kid would be doomed to die and then historia would be left without a “partner”(if its forced they wouldn’t even be partners) and her child. Do people really want their otp to become canon that bad that they give zero shits about the situation it happens in? They’re willing to have it go down in such a awful way all just so they can say their otp fucked.

Hi! Just a quick question. Other than it being a tragic situation for Historia, why do you dislike the pregnancy plot so much? I'm trying to stay hopeful that in the end it's going to be worth it and it will be positive for Historia and the baby, even if it seems to be despairing for her at the moment.

There are many reasons. Some of them are difficult to talk about without offending others, so I’ll focus on only one.

Historia’s pregnancy only benefits her if she actively wants a child. Otherwise, it’s coercion which last I checked is a stones throw from rape. Since she looks miserable, I am entirely uncomfortable assuming she actively wants a child.

When I make this argument, people typically reply that Eren is only trying to save her, or that a pregnancy is better than having your life shortened by becoming a titan. They try to justify this as a kindness. But I ask anyone who thinks that way to please put yourself in Historia’s place and think about it. If I personally had the choice of fighting on my own terms for 13 years with incredible power and the hope of saving my people versus being forced into an unwanted pregnancy, I can tell you my choice.

Historia is not a princess in need of saving. Last I checked she was a powerful warrior capable of killing her own father if it meant saving her people. 

The images of Historia that I cherish are those of her standing proudly atop the crumbling tower of Utgard throwing stones at titans, body slamming her father in the cavern, defying Erwin’s order in Orvud to stay out of the battle, announcing her name to that people of Orvud after killing her father, being bowed to by the most powerful men in the walled world during her coronation in Mitras, teaming up with Levi in front of the nobles to establish the orphanages, and standing in front of Kiyomi and the military when she agreed to take the beast titan power. 

Do people remember those moments? Give me another minute or two and I can probably double that list. That’s Historia Reiss. That’s been her character development. That’s why this pregnancy plot goes beyond tragic and into the realms of being a deal breaker for me. To see her sitting pregnant and angry, isolated from the people she rules and loves with the potential that she’s been coerced into an unwanted pregnancy is such a smack in the face after everything she’s done and accomplished.

Does that make sense? Have I explained it properly? My blood pressure start to rise when I start typing and I tend to get lost in emotion.

I trust Isayama has a twist planned. I trust that he’ll make this something I can live with.

Another quick thought:

I love how this chapter basically confirmed that the Coordinate which connects the 9 Titans (and all the Subjects of Ymir) via Paths together is basically analogical to the World Tree - Yggdrasil - of Norse mythology, that holds the 9 Worlds together. 

As the epicenter of the cosmos, Yggdrasil’s well-being contributes to the well-being of the rest of the universe and allows the cycle of life to go on. This makes me think of two things at the moment as it pertains to Attack on Titan:

1. Simply destroying the Coordinate will effectively end the Subjects of Ymir (so this is something that should be avoided).

2. By using the motif of a tree, something that represents the cycle of life as it is goes through birth, growth, death and rebirth, the story effectively once again reiterates the importance of life. Placing Eren, a guy who in this chapter once again firmly stated his famous words of “I was born into this world” in front of the Coordinate itself appears to further reinforce this idea.
