Another #FarmerPower event, this time in Shepparton to help northern Victorian #dairyfarmers understand some of the #renewableenergy options that are available to dairy farmers. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… Dairy farmers are finding it extremely difficult to make a decent wage and their power usage is a large part of their overheads. We talked to many dairy farmers about solar battery storage systems to help them learn the pros and cons of different battery technologies. Is it affordable? What is the latest technology? Will it work for me? πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… When consumers go online to compare different batteries there is so much conflicting information available it is very difficult to get a clear picture of what is available and to understand what is happening in the industry. What's important is you compare similar products and don't just listen to what salespeople are telling you. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… If a product has been in use for a number of years the quoted figures are more likely to be reliable than if a product is new and hasn't yet been tested in real life conditions. Generally batteries are tested in factories at 25 degrees. This can produce different results than are experienced in real life when temperatures vary widely. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… Currently there are no relevant battery standards in Australia as the current battery standards only really apply to lead acid batteries which have been the main energy storage batteries available until quite recently. This means companies that are trying to sell you batteries can make any claims they like regarding depth of discharge and numbers of cycles of their new batteries. This is why you will find very different claims from the same batteries. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… It is important that when looking at ROI that people take into account all factors of the lifetime cost of any renewable energy system, including energy storage. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… #p4farmers #energystorage #alternativeenergy #Batterystorage #Solarbatterystorage #solaraustralia #gridedge #FIAMM #moltensaltbattery #saltbattery #cleanenergy #prosandconsofbatterystorage (at Shepparton, Victoria)

Solar powered "cheff off" cook off in Gippsland. Our clean energy trailer is currently powering an oven, a deep fryer, several fridges as well as all PA equipment with no issues. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… There aren't many batteries that can do this and even fewer that are safe to carry round in a portable trailer. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… This is proving to be a great event on Feb 18 which we are proud to support with our clean energy trailer rather than having to rely on diesel generators for power. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… If you are in Morwell come and join in the fun with @reactivatelatrobevalley at Kernott Hall in Morwell πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… #getcheffed #supportlocal #OurLV #portablepowersupply #backuppowersupply #bestportablepowerbank #bestportablebattery #portablepowergenerator #alternativeenergysources #thefutureofenergy #Batterystorage #Solarbatterystorage #solarstoragebatteries #gridedge #dieselgenerator #cleanenergytrailer (at Kernot Hall)

Global Energy Storage to Double 6 Times by 2030, Matching Solar’s Spectacular Rise πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… The energystorageindustry is set to rise dramatically -- for those companies that can play the long game.Β  πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… Bloomberg New Energy Finance released a report Tuesday that forecasts the global energy storage market will β€œdouble six times” from now to 2030, from a meager starting point of less than 5 gigawatt-hours last year, to more than 300 gigawatt-hours and 125 gigawatts of capacity by the end of the next decade. An estimated $103 billion will be invested in energy storage over that time period. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… The trajectory for energy storage mirrors the market expansion that solar went through from 2000 to 2015, when the share of solar PV as a percentage of total generation doubled seven times.Β  πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… This rapid global growth rate tracks well with the U.S. energy storage market forecast from GTM Research, which projects a twelvefold growth in the U.S. alone between 2016 and 2022, to reach 7.2 gigawatt-hours, or 2.6 gigawatts, of capacity.Β  πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… This growth is going to be driven by both cost reductions for batteries and associated systems, and a rising need for more gigawatts of flexibility to manage the ups and downs of an increasingly wind- and solar-powered grid, πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… 70 percent of global capacity through 2030 will be installed in eight countries: the U.S., China, Japan, India, Germany, U.K., Australia and South Korea. The primary driver in each will be managing an increasingly renewable and intermittent energy resource mix. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… If you would like to be part of the solution by utilising quality renewable energy products and would like to know more about getting safe, reliable battery storage for your own home, business or micro-grid visit us at http://quantum.GridEdge.com.au πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… #energystorage #alternativeenergy #Batterystorage #alternativeenergy #solaraustralia #gridedge #Sodiumnickelchloridebattery #saltbattery #moltensaltbattery #FIAMM #FZSoNick #saltwaterbattery #cleanenergy #thefutureofenergy #offgrid (at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia)

Independent modelling found that Australia’s Federal Government National Energy Guarantee (NEG) would result in 6,600 less renewable energy jobs in 2030 than business as usual and that renewable energy investment could come to a standstill.Β  πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… The Government’s energy scheme could lead to renewable energy investment and jobs grinding to a halt, while it should be doing the exact opposite. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… Yet again, we see the importance of an independent voice in holding the Government to account.Β  πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… The EY research compared the projections for the NEG of 28% renewable energy in 2030 with a business as usual scenario. We found that the Government’s proposal would result in 8% lower employment than a business as usual forecast. That means fewer jobs in wind and large-scale solar PV construction and operation. This plan is actually worse than doing nothing.Β  πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… The modelling also looked at a 50% renewable energy scenario by 2030. Staggeringly, the Government’s initiative would result in 32% less employment. That’s over 20,000 fewer jobs in large scale wind and solar PV, and rooftop PV in 2030. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… Given our abundant wind and solar resources, there are countless opportunities for Australia to grow renewable energy and reduce pollution while doing so. Today, Australia’s Chief Scientist, Alan Finkel, released a report that found that securing 50% renewable energy could reliably power Australia without needing significant amounts of storage. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… #ClimateCouncil πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… If you would like to be part of the solution by utilising quality renewable energy products and would like to know more about getting safe, reliable battery storage for your own home, business or micro-grid visit us at http://quantum.GridEdge.com.au πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… #energystorage #alternativeenergy #Batterystorage #alternativeenergy #solaraustralia #gridedge #Sodiumnickelchloridebattery #saltbattery #moltensaltbattery #FIAMM #FZSoNick #saltwaterbattery #cleanenergy #thefutureofenergy #offgrid (at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia)

Battery storage uptake by households surges as grid costs soar πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… Battery storage systems being installed in Australia look set to confirm earlier predictions that battery installations will treble in 2017. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… New data from the SunWiz 2017 Mid-Year Battery Report shows more than 7000 battery installations took place across Australia in the first six month of 2017. By contrast there were 6500 installations recorded for all of 2016. Current projections say Australia is headed for a total of more than 20,000 energy storage battery installations by the end of 2017. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… Leading the charge to home batteries is New South Wales, which is home to 21 per cent of installations so far this year. Queensland comes a close second with 18 per cent, followed by Victoria, at 12 per cent. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… According to the Sunwiz report, the boom in home battery storage installations – most are being sold in combination with a rooftop solar system, it says, rather than to existing solar households – is being driven mainly by major power price hikes, as homes and small businesses seek to minimise the electricity they import from the grid, by maximising the consumption of their rooftop solar. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… If you would like to know more about getting your own quality safe, reliable and recyclable battery storage for your own home, business or micro-grid visit us at http://quantum.GridEdge.com.au πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… #energystorage #alternativeenergy #Batterystorage #alternativeenergy #solarstoragebatteries #solaraustralia #gridedge #Sodiumnickelchloridebattery #saltbattery #moltensaltbattery #FIAMM #FZSoNick #saltwaterbattery #cleanenergy #thefutureofenergy #offgrid (at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia)

15,000 scientists just sent out an SOS -- a "warning to humanity" that if we don't stop polluting, our planet is doomed. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… The facts are terrifying: species are going extinct at 1000 times the natural rate. 90% of the Great Barrier Reef is dead or dying. Oceans are so choked with plastic that fish are addicted to eating it. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… But scientists have discovered something else -- a kind of miracle that could save us. If we can protect 50% of our planet from human exploitation, our ecosystem will be able to stabilise and regenerate. Life on earth will recover! Our governments have already promised to protect a quarter of the planet, so we know it’s possible. But no other global movement is championing this miracle recovery plan! πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… It’s up to us. πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… If you would like to be part of the solution by utilising quality renewable energy products and would like to know more about getting battery storage for your own home, business or micro-grid visit us at http://quantum.GridEdge.com.au πŸŒ„πŸŒ…πŸŒ„πŸŒ… #energystorage #alternativeenergy #Batterystorage #saltbattery #cleanenergy #climatechange #gridedge #FIAMM #FZSoNick #Batterybackup #bestbattery #futureenergy #Solarbattery #EnergyStorageSystems #Solarbatterystorage (at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia)

Battery capacity depends on user needs 🌞🌞🌞 There are many things to take into account when looking at an #energystorage battery for your home or business. These include what you want your #energystoragebattery to do as well as its safety, performance, operating temperature and end of life recyclability. 🌞🌞🌞 Unfortunately many people only look at the initial purchase cost of batteries and this is what they use to compare different batteries. This doesn't take into account what a battery may cost them over its lifetime or the cost to the environment of both the battery's manufacture and end of life disposal. To make a realistic comparison of a battery's cost you need to consider it's full "cradle to grave" impact on all areas, including its safety during operation and it's environmental impact. 🌞🌞🌞 One of the first things you need to consider is what you want your battery to do. Do you just want to shift some power to be used at night or do you want to be energy independent, even if you stay connected to the grid? The answers to this question may help to determine the size of the battery you need. 🌞🌞🌞 To do this you need to look at the way you live and the way and times you use power. If you only want to shift some of the solar PV power generated during the day to be used at night you won't need as large a battery as you will if you want to become energy independent or even to take yourself off the grid, you also have to consider the way you live as you will no longer have a limitless supply of power (not that we do in reality anyway). 🌞🌞🌞 If you would like to know more about getting safe, reliable and recyclable #batterystorage for your own home, business or micro-grid to increase your energy independence visit us at http://quantum.GridEdge.com.au. We have a number of different sized systems that can cater to your budget and household needs. 🌞🌞🌞 #alternativeenergy #gridedge #cleanenergy #renewables #saltbattery #FIAMM #FZSoNick #Sodiumnickelchloridebattery #Solarbatterystorage #bestbattery #investinrenewables     (at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia)

Accelerating Climate Action [β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €] Amongst the G20 countries, Australia’s emission reduction target – a reduction of 26-28% on a 2005 baseline – is unusually weak, nowhere near what is required for us to play our fair share in meeting 2Β°C Paris target. [β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €] The IPCC uses a synthesis of thousands of peer-reviewed scientific papers to assess the degree of risk at increasing levels of global average temperature. These risks are illustrated in Figure 17. [β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €] β€Ί There is a significant difference in the degree of risk between the 1.5Β°C and 2.0Β°C Paris targets, with higher risks of damage to natural ecosystems and more intense and/or frequent extreme weather events for the 2.0Β°C target. [β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €] At a 2.0Β°C temperature rise, there is a high level of risk for 3 of the 5 categories – impacts on natural ecosystems, extreme weather events, and impacts on the most vulnerable. That is, a 2.0Β°C temperature rise is not a β€œsafe” level of climate change. [β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €] A 4.0Β°C temperature rise (business-as-usual) would lead to a vastly different world, with very high risks to many natural ecosystems and highly damaging impacts on the most vulnerable. Climate change is a serious and urgent problem β†’β†’β†’β†’β†’β†’ It's up to each of us to consume differently - What you BUY - What you EAT - How you get your POWER β†’β†’β†’β†’β†’β†’ Vote for leaders who will fight climate change by - Ending fossil fuel subsidies - Investing in renewables - Leaving fossil fuels in the ground - Supporting a price on carbon β†’β†’β†’β†’β†’β†’ Many people know they should be taking action to combat climate change, however it is often easier to not take the steps needed, believing your little bit of action won't make a difference or you don't know enough about the different technologies. Whether it is putting in a renewable energy system, including storage or making your house more energy efficient with good insulation or changing your diet to include less meat every step taken is a step in the right direction. β†’β†’β†’β†’β†’β†’ It is easier to say it is not economical to put solar panels and battery storage on your home rather than taking responsibility for the bigger issues of climate change that are bigger than short term economic benefits. β†’β†’β†’β†’β†’β†’ As Margaret Mead says "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has" β†’β†’β†’β†’β†’β†’Β  If you would like to know more about getting safe, reliable, recyclable, SoNick (molten salt) battery storage for your own home, business or micro-grid application visit us at http://GridEdge.com.au β†’β†’β†’β†’β†’β†’Β  #energystorage #alternativeenergy #Batterystorage #gridedge #saltbattery #cleanenergy #climatechange #FIAMM #FZSoNick #Batterybackup #bestbattery #futureenergy #Solarbattery #EnergyStorageSystems #Solarbatterystorage (at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia)
