Pissgrave - Suicide Euphoria

Bestial death metal from The City of Brotherly Love.
Philadelphia's Pissgrave, known for savage death metal as well as repugnant album covers, do not disappoint in their debut album. Chainsaw riffs, hellish and sometimes pitch adjusted (ala Revenge) vocals meet death metal riffage and (shocker of shockers for a war metal album) groove, see track Impaled Vibration.
Available via Pissgrave's Bandcamp page, Profound Lore Records, and your freindly Discogs seller.
(I'm not joking about the covers, view at your discretion)

Mortify - Demo 2017

Gruesome Japanese deathgrind with the unmistakable reak of Swedish buzzsaw.
Less than 6 minutes in length, the first demo from Tokyo's Mortify shows promise. Production for the most part is great; the guitars are that perfect Sunlight Studios sohnd and the drums sound full. The growled vocals sound a bit tinny, but the few shrieks sound great.
Available via Mortify's Bandcamp page.

Warp Chamber ~ Abdication of the Mind

Let's start off this little blog with three things I very much love; death metal, demos, and cassettes. If this becomes a regular blog these three things will pop up a lot so be ready.
So up to the executioner's block today is the debut demo of Warp Chamber. Formed in 2016, the band stayed quiet for the first two years of its existence, and dropped this two song smasher in February of 2018. The copy I possess is from Redefining Darkness Records and was released December 2018.
There's no introductory atmospherics or theatrics beginning this demo, it aims straight for the jugular with starter and title track 'Abdication of the Mind', a song that wouldn't sound amiss if placed next to Dead Congregation or the likes. The song transitions from its tremolo beginning into a very mosh-friendly mid-tempo assault that forms the remaining meat of the track (complete with not one but two chaotic solos that adds just the right kind of melody to keep things fresh).
Second track 'Harvesting the Life Force of a Crumbling Orb' is the longer of the two, 9 minutes to the 6 of the first track, but doesn't lose its focus. Of the songs here this is the doomier of the two, starting much like the first track in a whorl of chaos and transitioning once more into mid-tempo goodness, with some faster bits spread throughout.
Of these songs, the title track is probably my favorite thanks to its solos and somewhat shorter length, but the second is nonetheless still quite good.
Of particular note to me is the production on this tape; it is very natural and gritty at the same time, the drums and guitars are balanced very well (and good god these drums do sound wonderful themselves). I couldn't pick the bass out individually but nonetheless this demo has a very healthy low end and I love it.
I would recommend buying this demo, cassette or digital, and look forward to any output from the band later on.
