A late Winter snowshoeing trip inspired this view of two fat robins perched on branches in a snowy field. Hints of green are visible here and there, but snow and ice still dominate the scene.

While the city of Chicago has gone out of its way to prevent graffiti, including tightly restricting the sale of spraypaint and paint markers, the endless stream of rail cars entering the city bring little technicolor surrealist masterpieces into the industrial landscape.

Inside Christmas : The holiday is such a strange and conflicted nexus of wishes fulfilled and wishes disappointed, of charity and selfishness, fellowship and loneliness. My primordial Christmas memory, though, predates my consciousness of all that.

Even today, when I’m staring at a sea of glittering pixels, images even beyond abstraction, I remember laying on the Christmas tree skirt and looking up through the tree, the lights and tinsel and mirrorball ornaments. Pure, disorienting wonder.

Better World :: One of the things I love about surrealism, and the Glitch in particular, is that it lets me see something I would never see in the outside world, something no one has ever seen. Sometimes it seems like I’m finding snapshots of a parallel world full of color and hope.
